Under indirect supervision of Watch Commander &/or department supervisor, Performs variety of duties to protect against fire & criminal violations to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors & employees. Investigates reported incidents & all criminal violations of Kaiser property. Monitors radio, fire alarm system & C.C.T.V.'s at Control Center. Dispatches officers to incidents & makes necessary notifications. Supports compliance & Principles of Responsibility. Maintains confidentiality. Protects organizational assets. Exhibits ethics & integrity. Adheres to applicable federal & state laws & regulations, accreditation & licensing requirements, policies & procedures. Reports &/or resolves issues of non-compliance.

Essential Functions:
- Patrols building, premises, & parking lots of establishment to detect any criminal violations or hazardous conditions
- Monitors fire alarm system, security alarms & C.C.T.V. at Security Control Center. Dispatches officers to respond to these alarms via radio
- responds & stands-by w/ fire extinguisher at Heli-Pad on all landings & departures on Medi-Vac helicopters
- Examines all doors, windows, & gates to determine security. Locks & unlocks doors & buildings as scheduled. Allows entry into secured areas by authorized personnel only
- Detects & Reports any unusual conditions, situations or malfunctions affecting safety or fires at Kaiser facilities. Responds to all fire alarms & assists in fire fighting as appropriate, using two radios to assists in communication as necessary. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all emergencies, fires & disasters at Kaiser facilities
- Raises & lowers flags at front entrance on daily basis
- Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property & detains personnel for further investigation when necessary
- Answers questions & gives directions/assistance to visitors/patients upon request
- Detects & reports any criminal activity or property damage to Security Control Center & submits necessary reports
- Maintains traffic control in parking lots & Emergency Department area. Issues parking citations to violators
- Makes recommendations to supervisor on all activities that require changes in policies, procedures & budgetary requests as necessary
- Maintains good communication w/ other security personnel, other staff personnel & department heads & units
- Monitors Watchmen & provides appropriate training & assistance as required
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, & abilities necessary to provide care &/or service appropriate to age groups served
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, & abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive are &/or service
- Adheres to & maintains current knowledge of Principles of Responsibility, applicable federal & state laws & regulations, accreditation & licensing requirements, policies & procedures. Reports &/or resolves issues of non-compliance
- On regular, sustained basis, cooperates w/ other staff members both w/in & outside department in accomplishment of own job duties as well as assisting others in accomplishing theirs. Serves as team player & role model for other employees in Organization always exhibiting traits of courtesy, caring, helpfulness & respect. Conducts oneself in service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, cooperative, sensitive, respectful & kind when dealing w/ members, visitors, public & all employees

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- One year of experience in law enforcement, security, or related experience
- High school diploma
- Completion of Basic Health care Security course by Hawaii Chapter of International Association of Health care Security & Safety (IAHSS) or related police officer academy coursework & training
- Current Adult Heartsaver AED CPR or Adult CPR/AED certification (must obtain w/in 6 months of hire.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of & skill in interpersonal relations, customer service, oral communication, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution, influence
- Working knowledge of & skill in the word processing pc applications
- Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, & on the telephone
- Reading, writing, speaking & understanding English
- Training/giving & receiving instructions
- Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g., organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration & alertness
