The position will focus primarily on health plan and insurance regulatory matters, and in particular on a wide range of payor operations matters.
These include but are not limited to state and federal payor regulation and compliance, new product development, employer group agreements, member contracts and benefits, financial and regulatory examinations and filings, HIPAA privacy and security matters, health care reform, wellness programs and support for the provision of administrative services to self-funded plans. Experience in related areas, such as prior provider representation and in particular experience with complex health care transactional work, is strongly preferred.
Essential Functions:
- The position will also work closely with colleagues specializing in provider operations, Medicare, FEHBP, and other practice areas, as well as with colleagues supporting other Kaiser regions.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- At least 7 years of practice in the health law field (excluding medical malpractice or workers compensation), including broad experience representing managed care and insurance organizations, and integrated delivery systems.
- California bar membership required; may take the bar exam after hiring.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in most or all of the above-referenced areas.
- Excellent academic and professional background.
- Excellent references.
- Emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in team settings
- Desire to develop a versatile and diverse health care practice
