Ideal Candidate will create prototype product using machines that include manual lathe, mills, drill presses, and grinders. Candidate will also work from blueprints, drawings, models, and/or sketches to fabricate prototype components for new product testing using materials such as metals and plastics. May review blueprints or drawings for machining capability and drawing standards. Programs, sets up, cleans, and conducts minor repairs on machining equipment. Observe machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction. Ability to work with engineers and other related fields to produce desired tooling, fixtures, castings, or parts. Builds relationships with vendors and orders materials from suppliers. Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, or department. Responsible for ensuring subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition. Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
Qualified candidate will have a High School diploma with a minimum of 2 years of related experience. Secondary degree or trade school is preferred. Experience with conventional mill, conventional lathe, surface grinder, and drill press is required. Prior experience with at least two of the following: CNC Machining Center, 5 Axis Swiss Lathe, and Wire EDM is required. Knowledge of CAMM programming software: Master CAM and/or PartMaker is essential. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals is required. Strong knowledge of geometry and algebra is preferred. Ability to read blueprints, and sketches is required. Ability to read, write, and understand English is required.
