Description
McNeil, a member of Johnson & Johnson Family of companies is currently recruiting a Principal Automation Engineer in the Technical Operations Department, to be located in Fort Washington, PA.
McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc markets a broad range of over-the-counter products, including TYLENOL® acetaminophen products, ZYRTEC® and BENADRYL® allergy medicines, IMODIUM® A-D anti-diarrheal, MOTRIN® IB, ROLAIDS® antacid products, and SUDAFED® nasal decongestants.
The Principal Automation Engineer will provide automation / CSV technical support through the McNeil supply chain in North America, with a special focus on the sites in Fort Washington, Lancaster and Las Piedras. She/He will plan and direct engineering activities related to the implementation of integrated automated factory floor systems, enhance the technical expertise in automated statistical process controls and shop floor monitoring and work closely with other functional areas to achieve business results. This individual will ensure quality and compliance in all aspects of automation. He/she will provide technical expertise in determining a standard and strategic approach to any factory floor automation initiative and provide direct technical support to Engineering projects. This person provide execution of the strategies that ensure long term automation standardization and leverage best practices in automation, using PE tools like 6Sigma, Lean and Kepner-Tregoe. He/she will provide automation requirements in the conceptualization of equipment development. The successful candidate will identify / execute of compliance & and continuous improvement initiatives associated with automation and systems integration. The role will collaborate during early stage of technology selection, drive design for manufacturability, ensures robust CTQ cascade methodologies and develop process controls and monitoring systems. He/she will support at site level the introduction of new technologies within the packaging area related to Brand Protection, Digital Printing, Serialization, RFID, OEE, SPC. The individual will ensure that applications are consistent with the Electronic Records & Signature regulation requirements for audit trails, security, backup, and retention. He/she will assist in the development and execution of test plans, IQ, OQ, and PQ validation protocols for new or upgraded integrated factory floor systems. This person will participate in vendor selection and evaluation. Verify that all computer systems are developed and implemented in compliance with Company policies and procedures, FDA regulations, cGMPs, and are validated as necessary. He/she will plan and/or verify, and control project and/or program costs and schedules.

Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's in Engineering and/or Computer Science is required. A Professional Engineer License is preferred. A minimum of 8 years overall of business experience with 5 years focused on automation engineering in a manufacturing environment is required. Experience working in a GMP manufacturing environment is highly desired. Experience in automation and system integration is required. Prior experience programming and troubleshooting SCADA applications is required. Experience with platforms such as Wonderware's InTouch is preferred. Previous experience with MES software systems interfacing to SAP is preferred. Working in regulated compliance environment and good knowledge of Part11 (Electronic Records & Signature regulation) regulation is required. Experience with an audit trails, security, backup, and retention is preferred. An understanding of cGMP and good documentation practices is preferred. A proven track record of successful project management is required. Prior experience assisting in the identification, evaluation, selection, and implementation of third-party systems is preferred. Excellent leadership skills and the ability to work in a team environment is required. This person must have excellent communication and presentation skills. Knowledge of 6Sigma, Minitab, Lean, Kepner-Tregoe, and MS Office is preferred. Six Sigma/Process Excellence Certification is preferred. Proficiency in the Spanish language is highly desired. At least 25% travel domestic/international is required. This position is located in Fort Washington, PA.
