Assists the VP of Pharmacy Operations & Services (VP POS) to provide leadership & management of Regional Centralized Pharmacy Services, primarily of the Consolidated Prescription Processing Pharmacy (CPP) & Pharmacy Call Center (PCC) to assure consistent high levels of performance in pharmaceutical care, service, & operations. Supports the VP POS to achieve Regional goals in all practice settings. Collaborates w/ Regional/Area leadership, Union leadership, & Medical Group leadership to provide direction & oversight to maintain & improve performance. Collaborates w/ the VP POS, NCAL, & other CA Pharmacy Leaders in development & execution of strategy for delivery of pharmaceutical care, service & operations in NCAL. Provides oversight & management of the CPP & PCC, & other centralized services as assigned. Work w/ Pharmacy Program offices to determine & implement strategic objectives for centralized services. Coordinate use of current technology to drive CPP & PPC productivity & best practice to deliver exceptional member service. Allocate operating budget across CPP & PCC to assure appropriate resource utilization & consistent operations & scope of service.
Essential Functions:
- Provides leadership, direction, & management of CPP & PCC, & other assigned centralized services, to assure consistent high levels of performance in pharmaceutical care, service, & operations in all NCAL outpatient pharmacies. Functions in a direct supervisory role to the managers in CPP & PCC, & other assigned centralized services
- Provides leadership & direction to the personnel in CPP & PCC, & other assigned services. Provides ongoing leadership & direction to enhance member service
- Provides leadership to assure the professional/management development at the individual level for CPP & PCC managers & their direct reports to assure high performing teams & personnel necessary for the long term success of Pharmacy Services in KP
- Participates in the development & execution of strategy for delivery of outpatient pharmaceutical care, service & operations in NCAL, w/ consistent implementation at the local &/or regional level
- Responsible for the development & implementation of CPP & PCC operating & capital budgets
- Monitors performance against budgets & makes appropriate adjustments to achieve financial goals
- Assist the VP POS, NCAL to:
- Seek out, promote & facilitate the rapid adoption & assimilation of best practices & innovations in service, work methods, technology, & operational systems which improve pharmacy service, quality & productivity in the CPP & PCC, consistent w/ California strategy
- Sponsor, test & evaluate new technology & innovation. Ensures successful technology & innovations are rapidly implemented in CPP & PCC
- Optimally utilize & integrate centralized support services & technology into pharmacy operations & workflows
- Assure centralized pharmacy space needs are incorporated into master planning activities
- Work collaboratively w/ Drug Use Management Leadership to assure appropriate use of pharmaceuticals, consistent implementation of drug use initiatives, & support of care management initiatives
- Work collaboratively w/ Pharmacy Quality Leadership to assure consistent deployment of processes & tools to measure & assure the quality of pharmaceutical care, operations & services
- Provide leadership & direction to assure compliance w/ Pharmacy law, regulation, pharmacy business practices, accreditation standards, & other KP policies
- Work collaboratively w/ California Pharmacy Leadership in the development & allocation of operating budgets in outpatient & centralized pharmacy operations to assure appropriate resource utilization, consistent operations & scope of services provided, w/ monitoring of performance against operating plans, & adjustments implemented as necessary & appropriate
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of leadership-level experience and documented record of success in management of centralized pharmacy operations and/or call center operations and/or equivalent centralized operations and/or service center.
- Bachelor's degree in Health Services, Business Administration orrelatedfieldrequired.
- Master's degree strongly preferred.
- Degree in Pharmacy preferred.
- Licensed to practice pharmacy (preferred).
- Knowledgeable and experienced in Pharmacy operations, systems, technology, and personnel management.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize effective communication, presentation, financial management, and analytical skills required.
- Demonstrated track record of self-initiative, strategic thinking, and successful planning and innovation.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with physicians and/or health care administrators and/or organizational leaders
- Demonstrated ability to apply and utilize knowledge of quality management process, as well as Pharmacy and related Medical, Nursing and other health care laws, regulations, and standards.
- Proficiency with personal computer usage necessary for monitoring, and reporting financial and operational performance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage professionals and others through influence and collaboration across multiple sites.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and direct peer groups and interdisciplinary project teams. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of personnel management principles and techniques.
- Frequent travel within California required.
