Accountable for Medical Center sourcing & logistics operations & financial performance. Leads the Medical Center sourcing & logistics services which usually includes: purchasing & contracting services, distribution (internal/external), storage, perioperative services, inventory control systems, linen, & sterile processing.
Essential Functions:
- Upholds KP's Policies & Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities & applicable state, federal & local laws
- Develops & implements a Medical Center strategy which is responsive to the divisional & national sourcing strategies while anticipating & meeting customer requirements
- Ensures products are high quality, cost effective, & distributed in a timely basis
- Builds & manages a distribution network that allows products to be delivered to the facilities through an external vendor or internally
- Provides leadership, education, & support to physicians & Medical Center staff to develop their understanding of current materials management practices/products which support operational & financial goals
- Manages the materials management staff across the Medical Center
- Ensures staff is trained, complies w/ policies/procedures, reduces costs, & maintains targeted service & customer satisfaction levels
- Develops & presents cost reduction recommendations to area management to assist them in meeting their budgets & operational goals
- Identifies sourcing opportunities for cost reductions, service improvements & product standardization to the national & divisional purchasing & logistics teams
- Ensures compliance w/ established divisional & national product standards
- Maintains & supports the automated systems to manage all purchasing & receiving activities
- Develops & implements a Medical Center asset management strategy which is supportive of financial goals, capital planning efforts and, in collaboration w/ Facilities Services & EH&S, the Safe Medical Device Act
- Assume other activities & responsibilities from time to time as directed
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Six (6) to eight (8) years of progressive management experience in a health care setting
- One (1) to three (3) years of previous budget management experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business
- Master's degree preferred
- Demonstrated competence in operation of inventory control systems & software applications
- Demonstrated knowledge of materiel management principles & concepts (e.g., purchasing, receiving, distribution, stockless & JIT systems)
- Knowledge of federal, state & local regulations & JCAHO requirements
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment

- Travel may be required to Kaiser Permanente facilities and/or non-Kaiser Permanente facilities when planning meetings or special projects
