Supports Strategic Management Consulting department's goals & accountabilities by partnering w/ customers & colleagues to translate strategic plans into actionable decision support by designing & managing reporting processes related to clinical, operational, and/or financial improvement activities. Accountable for creating a culture of compliance, ethics & integrity. Maintains knowledge of & assures departmental compliance w/ KP's Principles of Responsibility & policies & procedures, & applicable regulatory requirements & accreditation standards. Responds appropriately to observed fraud or abuse.
Essential Functions:
- Builds queries using SQL in 1 or more tools (e.g. Business Objects, SAS, SQL Assistant, Crystal) to extract data from mainframe & server-based data repositories based on client requests
- Performs intermediate to advanced spreadsheet analyses using Excel; develops reporting processes; builds business cases, internalization studies, cost-benefit/profitability analyses; financial forecasts; & other analyses as required by customers
- Develops & suggests tools for outcome & process measurement
- Collects, audits & compiles confidential data related to quality improvement studies
- Utilizes critical thinking skills w/ regard to measurement & data; makes recommendations to management based on interpretation of data
- Coordinates data extraction, testing, & development of proposals for the annual operating forecast of professional, technical, other benefits & hospitalization expenses
- Grows expertise in KP data systems
- Provides training & direction to SMC technicians & analysts
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience performing sophisticated data retrieval & report development
- Demonstrated experience w/ data extraction, management, & interpretation using SQL & Microsoft Excel required
- Bachelor's degree required in a field such as business or health care administration. Equivalent experience may be considered
- Basic proficiency w/ Microsoft Word & Access required
- This position may be filled at a different grade, provided the candidate possesses appropriate qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience w/ health care data, SAS/Graph, statistics for process improvement, Excel Visual Basic for Applications, and/or principles for graphical presentation of quantitative data are desirable, but not required
