Performs laboratory tests of moderate & high complexity & prepares records of test results. Maintains instruments, equipment, & supplies.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares & calibrates test instruments & equipment to assure accuracy of tests.
- Prepares specimens & performs laboratory tests of moderate & high complexity as defined in laboratory procedures manual.
- Discusses unexpected or unreasonable test results to supervisor.
- Reports the results of each test & related test data by entering information in computer database.
- Prepares, distributes, & files forms & reports.
- Cleans instruments & equipment as needed following each test.
- Performs maintenance & minor repairs to instruments & equipment.
- Recognizes equipment malfunctions & notifies appropriate personnel.
- Assists newly assigned staff to learn laboratory procedures.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
Qualifications:
Schedule Details:
- Variable days, rotating shifts to include weekdays, weekends and holidays.
Basic Qualifications:
- 2 years of current experience in a clinical laboratory or in related field required.
- 5 years of experience as a medical laboratory technician or graduated from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program of 2 years length required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification required.
