Provides mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment and crisis intervention services for adult and/or child members with a broad range of mental health. Collaborates with treating physician, psychiatric and allied health professional team to plan and direct each individual members treatment program. Provides consultation to psychiatrists, allied health professionals, and other specialty care providers on psychological and neuropsychological assessment.


Essential Functions:
- Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates clinical treatment programs for the diagnosis, treatment, and/or referral of Health Plan members with acute or chronic mental illness.
- Participates in staff conferences to select, plan, and evaluate treatment programs.
- Provides outpatient psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families and groups.
- Instructs and counsels patients and their families regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and adherence to prescribed medication regimens, within the scope of practice.
- May administer specialized therapeutic procedures, as appropriate.
- Provides appropriate support to member's family.
- May develop and conducts psycho-educational classes and groups.
- May conduct psychological assessments, including test administration, interpretation, and recommendations.
- Prepares intake summaries, treatment plans, and case summaries and maintains ongoing confidential records.
- Charts member's treatment and progress in accord with state and NCQA regulations and in keeping with accepted community standards.
- May be required to participate in the department on-call rotation.
- Collaborates with physicians in screening and evaluating patients for psychotropic medications, within the scope of practice.
- Utilizes resources of public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the needs of the member's treatment.
- May develop, implements, and evaluates behavioral medicine and health psychology programs in a variety of settings, including primary care.
- Provides consultation to primary care providers and health educators on matters relating to mental health, health psychology and behavioral medicine.
- Provides clinical supervision to pre-doctoral psychology interns, postdoctoral psychology fellows, and other mental health trainees as necessary.
- May supervise Psychiatric Assistants and Psychiatric Interns.

Other Duties:
Half of the position will be dedicated to serving our eating disordered members, and the other half will be a generalist adult position.
Approximately time collaborating with other staff members providing specialized services to our Eating Disordered members, including group and individual therapy. One shift on the triage and crisis team per week. Back-up for adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). General psychotherapy services as well. Must acquire and maintain privileges on the professional staff of the medical center in order to be able to do consultations in the Emergency Dept and inpatient medical units. Will also conduct an evening: 'Transitions' group for patients in crisis, or transitioning go out for the adult IOP. Outcomes management with both individual and group patients.

A patient service orientation is also required, as is flexibility.Ability to focus attention on details, keep required schedules, take direction from supervisor and follow work rules is required. Excellent typing skills are required, because of the use of Electronic Medical Records. Facility with Windows-based computer applications is also required.




Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

License eligible

OR:
- MFT (963007): Masters degree in Applied Behavioral Science required, Current license as a Marriage, Family and Child Counselor in the State of California, and Previous post license, paid experience as a member of a psychiatric treatment team in an outpatient setting/program under licensed supervision (usually two to four years). Knowledge of state regulations with regard to ethics, treatment, patient rights and confidentiality. Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI), or obtain an NPI, prior to employment start date.

OR:
- LCSW (963010): Masters Degree in Social Work required from an accredited college or university and Valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker license in the State of California.

OR
- Psychologist (963005):
- Minimum two (2) years of professional experience under the direction of a licensed psychologist or board certified psychiatrist.
- PhD, PsyD, or EdD in clinical or counseling required from an accredited college or university.
- Current valid license to practice psychology in the State of California.
- Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI), or obtain an NPI, prior to employment start date.
- Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations and APA standards as it related to client treatment, patient rights and client/patient confidentiality.
- Previous clinical responsibilities to include psychological testing, diagnosis, crisis intervention, brief individual and group psychotherapy.
- Knowledge of psychological testing techniques, administration and interpretation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Preferred qualifications include supervised training and experience in treating eating disorders.
-Training and experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and in chemical dependency treatment and dual diagnosis treatment.
- Spanish-speaking preferred.
- Bicultural background is a plus.
-Expertise with issues particular to our African American members is preferred.
- Ability to work some evening hours.
- Serving on the on-call rotation.
