Description
The General Surgery Group, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Senior Director, Global Business Insights, General Surgery located in Somerville, NJ.
Position is responsible for leading and directing the Global Business Insights Center of Excellence team (GBI), in support of the General Surgery Business Unit, including oversight of the Global Strategic Marketing insights and analytics. Position will serve as key representative on General Surgery Team, and will be the key contact for both Business Unit Leadership and US Marketing Teams. Role will require a high degree of business acumen and understanding, and must be able to activate a team to support for learning and insight needs across the business unit. Will also require an individual who is strong in collaboration and interdependent partnering. Other key stakeholders include Sales Planning and Operations, New Business Development and Finance organizations. Position will have responsibility for prioritizing all the projects and activities required to drive success of the business unit. Role will also serve on the Global Business Insights leadership team.
The General Surgery business presents approximately $6 billion in WW sales currently and comprises over half of the current Global Surgery Group sales. The business is expected to experience solid growth over the next 5 to 7 years. The company represents key platforms such as Wound Closure (sutures and topical skin adhesives), Hernia Repair, Women's Health and Urology, Minimally Invasive Surgical solutions and Obesity solutions.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: As part of the GBI Leadership Team, provide a clear vision, mission, scope, and process for the GSI organization and translation of this to the Business Unit Insights Team; which includes direct and indirect reports working across primary and secondary market research, forecasting, competitive intelligence and sales analytics. Proven track record of performance that demonstrates strong leadership and ability to create a high performance global strategic insights team. Strong results orientation while leading through others. Demonstrate an ability to influence multiple stakeholders at all levels of the organization to ensure an impactful level of team involvement in key business discussions. Lead Insight Team in:Flawless execution of all projects and activities required to drive success of the business and pipeline. Proactively providing fact based insights and analytics programs to address strategic business needs.Developing and implementing new innovative insights and business analytics tools and techniques and processes. Serve as key strategic partner to business unit leadership. Ensure that new products and programs are customer-centric and set up for high impact. Serve as objective steward of the Business. Lead education and dissemination of integrated knowledge estate and market information for key business partners. Active participation and engagement in the Global Business Insights Leadership Team. Leverage experiences to integrate novel/innovative methods for the business as it relates to the development and execution of strategic insights.
Qualifications
BS or BA in business, marketing, statistics, mathematics, or related field is required. MBA or MS is preferred. A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in strategic insights, market research, business analytics, strategic forecasting or a related field is required is required. Experience in the medical device, hospital specialty, or healthcare field is preferred, but not required. Proven track record of managing in a matrix environment where a high degree of collaboration is needed. A minimum of 5 - 8 years of people management experience is required; larger team management experience is preferred is required. Excellent proven leadership, collaboration, communication and analytical skills are required. Ability to lead cross-functional teams, sometimes requiring managing and leading without authority as needed. Ability to understand, translate and integrate multiple data sources into actionable insights to drive decision-making is required. Working knowledge of industry primary market research tools and techniques, secondary data, competitive intelligence data, and strategic forecasting is strongly preferred. Demonstrated success in creative problem solving and team partnership is required. Experience in building and working within outside partnerships to create a strategic sourcing model is required. Excellent verbal and written presentation skills are required. Strong project management skills in a deadline-oriented environment are required. Experience in New Product Development and Innovation preferred, but not required. Proficiency in Microsoft WORD; advanced EXCEL, and PowerPoint skills, and basic knowledge of analytical tools (eg SPSS or SAS) required. This position is based in Somerville, NJ and may require 30% travel.
