Ethicon Endo- Surgery, Inc., a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a/n R&D Staff Embedded Software Engineer for Electro-Mechanical devices, located in Cincinnati, OH.

The Ethicon Surgical Care business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies-including sutures, surgical staplers, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices-that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Ethicon Surgical Care business combines products and services of two market leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation. The R&D Staff Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for acting as a team member on multiple product development projects conducting various assignments in cooperation with direction of team & team leader.

Complete assignments involving a specific phase of an engineering project which may include design, development, testing of embedded software systems. May assist in determining objectives & planning schedules of specific task within a given project. Conduct assignments encompassing entire project or a large portion of a major project. Co-ordinate activities with internal & external customers. Apply comprehensive & diverse knowledge of engineering principles to a broad range of assignments. Plan, conduct & direct engineering assignments to completion. May co-ordinate, direct activities of other technical support staff & be responsible for their assignments. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Domestic & international travel, as required.

Qualifications


A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 8 years experience working in industry OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years work experience in industry is required for this role. Experience working in a regulated industry environment is also preferred Medical Device experience is also preferred.

Experience with embedded coding in microprocessor applications is required. Working knowledge of the TI programmable chipsets is required.

Experience with closed loop controller systems for DC brushed motors is required.

Advanced knowledge of C, C++, and assembly coding is required.

Experienced in communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, CAN, TCP/IP is preferred.

Excellent trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills and be capable of using logic analyzers and other debugging tools is required.

Ability to collaborate with others in a multidisciplinary team environment, Cross functional environment is required.

Proven experience in software/hardware developments of electro-mechanical products in a high volume and production environments is preferred

Requirement analysis, definition and documentation; software architecture design, implementation and integration test is preferred

Understanding of hardware and software product development life cycle and version control is preferred.

This position could require up to 20% travel both domestic and international.
