DePuy Orthopaedics is the Joint Reconstruction business offering orthopaedic devices, solutions and supplies for hip, knee and extremity reconstruction, in addition to cement and operating room products.

This Senior level engineer will be responsible for the commercialization and delivery of products to the Orthopaedic market that Positions DePuy as a leader in the industry. He/She will ensure that products are launched on time and meet established goals and objectives that support the financial and competitive goals of the organisation.

Uses leadership to ensure that cross functional resources are assigned and held accountable for task and outcome completion

Under general supervision, makes decisions affecting project budgets, assignment/alignment of resources, project execution and surgeon/customer relations.

May influence product designs and choice of raw materials, processes and equipment necessary to develop and manufacture products.

May be asked to work as part of a team for a new product introduction or other types of development project.

To provide cover as required for other engineers within the group.

To adhere to the company's procedures as detailed in the SOP manual (ensuring compliance to FDA, MDD, etc. to design control regulations).

Provide a world-class service to customers, both within and without R&D.

Introduce new technology and methodology as appropriate to increase the effectiveness of the business.

Ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity and apply project management skills which result in meeting project goals and objectives

Will handle several projects concurrently depending in the magnitude of each.

Will meet delivery promise in terms of budget and timescales.

Should work within a small team of the R&D Development Group which consists typically of 2, 3 or 4 Bioengineers with appropriate supervision.

Effectively utilize both written and oral communication formats when making presentations resulting in the obtainment of overall company goals and objectives

Effectively use negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Build effective interdependent partnering relationships.

Perform all job duties in full accordance with the Worldwide Policies on Information Asset Protection, maintain password(s) as Confidential, and protect Critical Business Information.

Incumbent knows, understands, incorporates and complies with all applicable laws and regulations relating to DePuy's business activities and Policies and Procedures of the Health Care Compliance Program and Code of Conduct

Provides competitive and business analysis to the WW Business Team to aid in developing the program and project strategies.

Actively involved with design surgeons and customers aligned with new product development project.

Uses interdependent partnering for developing relationships for appropriate regulatory, marketing, clinical, testing, manufacturing and prototyping resources and support.

Applies the PACE process, Stage Gates and use of Design Excellence tools as part of the commercialization process.

Qualifications


Bachelors Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required for this role. MS or PhD in a relevant scientific subject is an asset. A minimum of 5 years product development experience as an individual contributor working in industry is required. Medical devices experience is preferred for this role. Project Management experience is required. PMI certification or equivalent is an asset for this role. Orthopedic implant, instrument and technology design experience preferred. Experience working with Vendors and suppliers is required. Experience working in a Cross Functional team environment is required. Having Risk Management experience is an asset. Working in a matrix environment is preferred. This position will required up to 10% travel both domestic and international. This position will pe located in Warsaw, Indiana.
