Description

Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C., a Johnson & Johnson company, is recruiting a Senior Scientist ofTranslational Informatics to be located in our in Spring House, PA.

Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C. develops treatments that improve the health and lifestyles of people worldwide. Research and development areas encompass novel targets in neurologic disorders, gastroenterology, oncology, infectious disease, diabetes, hematology, metabolic disorders, immunologic disorders, and reproductive medicine.

The Senior Scientist, Translational informatics will be part of a dynamic, accomplished informatics team that will support multiple R&D therapeutic areas in the discovery and development of innovative medicines.She or he will work with colleagues in research and informatics to develop, implement, and apply state-of-the art scientific algorithms and methods for R&D teams and be responsible for direct support of drug discovery and development projects and will deliver novel computational tools and analyses in support of project teams.

He/she will work closely with colleagues to keep up-to-date with the latest approaches and advances in translational science and evaluate vendor tools and external data sets as required and work with complex, high-dimensional data and work to integrate and analyze data sets using high performance computing and advanced algorithms as required.

The Senior Scientist will participate in project teams, elicit needs, and act as a trusted business and scientific partner.

Qualifications


M.D. or Ph.D degree in Computer Sciences, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or a related discipline with a minimum of 2 year of industrial experience; or a Master degree with a minimum of 4 years of industrial experience.Hands-on experience in full-cycle bioinformatics software development especially in data processing, loading, pipeline development and informatics tools integration.

Proficient with one or more programming language such as .net, Java, Perl, C, etc

Experienced in one or more informatics analysis and visualization software/tools such as R/Bioconductor, GenePattern, Pathway tools.

Familiar with large datasets and next-generation sequencing data, handling of biomedical datasets and understanding data analysis workflows.

Full understanding of data analysis and data mining techniques in the OMICs area with hands-on experience.

Strong understanding of drug discovery and development processes

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
