Description

DePuy Synthes Companies of Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Director, Trauma & Group Communications. The position is located in West Chester, Pennsylvania and reports to the Worldwide Vice President, Communications for DePuy Synthes Companies.

DePuy Synthes Companies include Joint Reconstruction, Trauma, Spine, Mitek Sports Medicine, Cranio-maxillofacial, Codman, Power Tools and Biomaterials. These companies are global leaders in providing surgical and non-surgical solutions in orthopaedics and neurologics, including products for reconstructing damaged or diseased joints; repairing and reconstructing traumatic skeletal injuries; facilitating the treatment of spinal disorders and deformity; repairing soft tissue injuries; and treating neurological and central nervous system disorders.

The candidate will be accountable for all aspects of the Trauma operating company global communications strategy and implementation to support the business objectives, including building and protecting the reputation of the operating company and its brands; shaping the operating company point-of-view and messaging to external and internal audiences; identification and execution of public relations opportunities; guiding the company through complex communications issues; motivating and engaging operating company employees through creative internal communications strategies and tools.

The candidate also will be accountable for establishing and executing a global, integrated internal communications strategy and plan for DePuy Synthes Companies. Efforts must generate employee awareness of, excitement for and engagement with the organization's Purpose, Strategic Framework, business priorities and progress against those priorities.

Responsibilities include serving as communications counselor for Trauma president and management team and media spokesperson for Trauma operating company; strategic brand PR programs for the Trauma operating company; anticipation of potential issues in the Trauma business, development of communication strategy; Trauma employee communication strategy and execution, including town halls, leadership messages; relationships with key advocacy associations; senior executive speeches, presentations and communications; employee communications strategies across the global DePuy Synthes organization; development and maintenance of all DePuy Synthes communications channels and content, including intranet, employee meetings, executive communications, video, digital approaches, etc.; other DePuy Synthes cross-company communication initiatives

Qualifications


Minimum of 10 years experience working in corporate communications or brand PR required. Experience working in a healthcare-related role preferred. Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in required, preferably in Communications, public relations, journalism or related field. Extensive media relations experience and knowledge of the mainstream and online media required. Strong leadership, analytical and interpersonal skills, specifically in terms of influence management; consensus building; managing ambiguity; ability and willingness to challenge the status quo; collaboration across multiple levels, functions and cultures required. Demonstrated ability to plan, develop and implement strategic corporate and product PR programs; mastery of PR tactics/tools and track-record of managing PR firms required. Strong organizational communication skills, including strategic plans, messaging, communications channels required. International experience working across countries and cultures required. Must have ability to develop strategy and work plans and agility to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Exceptional written and verbal communications, presentation, news writing, speech writing, proofreading and editing skills are required.
