Provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment and crisis intervention as needed to members who present themselves for psychiatric evaluation. Collaborates with treating physician, psychiatric and allied health professional team to plan and direct each individual member's treatment program.

Essential Functions:
- Assesses, develops and coordinates a clinical treatment program for Health Plan members with acute or chronic psychiatric disorders.
- Consults with staff regarding diagnosis, strengths and deficits of member, as needed or appropriate.
- Provides outpatient psychotherapy to individuals and groups.
- Charts member's treatments and progress in accordance with state regulations and department procedures.
- Instructs and counsels members regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.
- Interprets psychiatric treatment to member's family and helps to reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of psychiatric care and continuation of treatment if asked to do so by member.
- Makes referrals to case manager, as appropriate, and/or refers member's family to community support services and resources.
- Utilizes resources of public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the needs of members.
- Collaborates with physicians in screening and evaluating members for psychotropic medications.
- May supervise PSW Assistants and PSW Interns, if supervision course has been completed.
- Works on-call evenings, weekends & holidays, assuming primary responsibility for emergency psychiatric care and acting as consultant to emergency department physicians and staff.
- Reports safety concerns to mandated reporting agencies.

Secondary Functions:
- IN REI- Conduct psychosocial interviews and assessments for infertility patients and couples.
- Plan and carry out interventions for infertility patients with identified distress and adjust reactions to their infertility or treatment.
- Provide pts with support, education, and resources.
- Organize and facilitate supportive, therapeutic, and/or psychoeducational groups specifically in the area of mind/body, mindfulness techniques, and topics specific to the interests of infertility patients.
- Consult with REI medical providers regarding relevant patient psychosocial history and current needs.
- Make appropriate referrals to Behavioral Health when necessary.
- In Early Start- Provide screening, assessment, and counseling to pregnant patients who are at risk for using alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs in pregnancy.
- Serve as a substance abuse specialist and liason to the Ob/Gyn providers and ancillary staff.
- Participating in local and regional Early Start meetings required.
- Charting and workflow strategies in order to maintain high standards for care.
- Provide presentations, training, and consultation to providers and staff.
- Lead the Early Start facility team in reaching regional benchmarks/goals including, but not limited to, monitering Early Start monthly reports, creating solutions to meet program targets, and work effectively with the Early Start Assistant to maximize program organization and efficiency to best meet member needs.
- Maintain open communication and partnership with the dept's Early Start Physician Champion and Manager to maximize program support support and efficiency.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
LCSW: Masters degree in Social Work required from an accredited college or university and Valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker license in the State of California.
OR
MFT: Masters degree in Applied Behavioral Science required, Current license as a Marriage, Family and Child Counselor in the State of California, and Previous post license, paid experience as a member of a psychiatric treatment team in an outpatient setting/program under licensed supervision (usually two to four years). Knowledge of state regulations with regard to ethics, treatment, patient rights and confidentiality.

- Has experience in assessing, diagnosing and treating a broad range of psychiatric conditions.
- Must be familiar with DMS-IV-R as a means of diagnosis.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations, and professional board standards as is related to member treatment, patient rights, and member/patient confidentiality.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent record-keeping, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of the impact of infertility on an individual and couple as well as mind/body and mindfulness counseling techniques with individuals, couples, and groups required.
- The ability to enlist pts into group activity required.
- Knowledge of abstinence-based and harm reduction techniques.
- Strong assessment and diagnostic background in substance abuse and dependence, psychosocial/mental health concerns, and individual/couple counseling and education skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
