Required Experience/Education/Attributes:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • At least one year of experience as a programmer/analyst in a technical or scientific environment
  • Experience creating and optimizing queries of complex relational databases, understand complex problems and create simple and efficient solutions (SQL)
  • Experience with client-server model and web design (such as HTML or CGI scripting), and developing IT solutions with at least one of the following: Oracle APEX, Visual Basic, Microsoft .NET development environment and/or Microsoft Office VBA
  • Experience with object-oriented methodologies and programming languages such as C, C++, or Java
  • Be willing to assist with other technologies that are used by scientists such as Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and R
  • Self-directed individual with the ability to manage projects through all stages: requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation, and support
  • Effective team skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills to promote successful interaction with our enterprise software, other developers, and breeding researchers. Ability to document and communicate conceptual and detailed software designs and database schemas 
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and acquire new technologies as needed
  • Interest and ability to learn state of the art plant breeding methods and work with breeding researchers to design and implement novel vegetable R&D IT solutions
