Description
Johnson & Johnson's Medical Device & Diagnostics (MD&D) Operating Companies is recruiting for an Associate Director, Professional Development to serve as a core member of the Safety and Surveillance (SS) Center of Excellence (COE). This position is located in New Brunswick, NJ.

The Professional Development Lead (PDL) will develop, deploy, manage and measure the success of the MD&D Sector Safety Training plan based on existing standards and results of needs analyses. The PDL will apply instructional system design principles and post intervention assessment to ensure training outcomes are achieved. It will also be critical that interventions meet the unique and varying needs of the various Operating Companies as well as the MD&D Sector.
This individual will be accountable for diagnosing key organizational needs and designing/implementing solutions which are relevant and aligned to the MD&D Quality standard. He/she will work collaboratively with SS COE, MD&D Safety Officer Leadership Team, Human Resources, and Quality to ensure that safety and surveillance capabilities are developed, communicated, integrated, and monitored. This position will also impact safety surveillance professionals in the region as well as those outside the US. This role will partner with Heads of Safety Operations & Compliance and local Quality associates to develop training. Current safety and surveillance capabilities will need to be benchmarked and monitored for growth. The Professional Development lead will manage curriculum development and deployment budget. In addition this individual will have vendor management responsibilities and interface with Johnson & Johnson's Professional Learning & Development Team and Infrastructure.
Specific Training Analysis and Design responsibilities of the PDL include the following: partner and consult with the MD&D Clinical Leadership Council to evaluate and ensure the fidelity of the learning program content and communication plans to the clinical competency model, the relevant job descriptions, and business strategies impacting the curriculum; partner with the Medical Safety Officer leadership team, Human Resources, members of the Safety and Surveillance Center of Excellence, and MD&D Quality to develop and continually assess the quality of the safety learning program and communications content that is aligned to the MD&D Patient Safety standards; engage, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders to drive awareness and commitment across MD&D to ensure integration into functional/regional/sector curricula and to promote sharing of best practices; develop, in conjunction with the Head of Safety Operations & Compliance (HSOC ), and manage the safety learning curriculum, training plan and annual learning calendar; build and implement formal training needs analysis; and lead and influence project teams to develop/identify training materials, implementation/e-learning delivery plans, training effectiveness assessment and training materials management.
Training Delivery responsibilities of the PDL include the following: develop training requirements communications and support training delivery individually and/or through 3rd party vendors; coordinate safety learning curriculum delivery and consistency across MD&D; and ensure efficient use of resources by organizing, or supporting the organization in training meetings.
Training Tracking and Compliance responsibilities include the following: utilize a learning management system to efficiently and effectively deploy training assignments, track training completions and generate training activity reports; track safety training to ensure records are up-to-date and that the key safety associates receive relevant training; evaluate training effectiveness against needs of the business; and oversee improvements to training events, programs and materials to improve effectiveness and meet evolving needs of the business
The PDL will also have responsibilities related to Planning, including: contribute to the strategic direction, strategic objectives and business plan; drive day to day business results to include the coaching, training and development of staff, as necessary; advise SS COE leadership of environmental changes and trends in the regulatory environment and recommend potential responses and solutions; and keep abreast of training and development research, new materials, methods and techniques.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and experience in corporate education or compliance is required. A minimum of 5 years experience and demonstrated program or project leadership experience in a compliance function (regulatory, quality, finance, HCC or similar) is also required. Pharmaceutical, medical device and/or healthcare industry experience is required, with a minimum of 10 years experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device or health care industries preferred. An advanced degree and cross functional or cross-sector experience as well as professional training certifications is preferred.
Professional experience developing and delivering employee education and training programs in accordance with company policy, including e- learning, is required. The demonstrated ability to coordinate multi-functional activities in a highly regulated environment, resulting in concrete business results and outstanding business partnering is required and essential for success. It is also required that candidates have successfully demonstrated his/her ability to manage multiple critical issues simultaneously and to influence, negotiate and communicate with both internal and external customers. This position requires the ability to thrive in a diverse and evolving global organization.
The successful candidate will possess excellent English verbal and written communication skills, including formal presentation skills. Experience in curriculum design, Learning Management System integration, and multi-media deployment (such as docent, Sum-Total, SCORM standards, Flash, e-learning systems etc), is required. Experience and skill in strategic planning, being a change agent, and project management is preferred. Also preferred are demonstrated quantitative analytical or statistical skills
