Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience:
  • PhD in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Crop Science or related field of study
  • Experience with planning of  field trials,  managing field selection and evaluation of varieties
  • Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and collaboration with others
  • Excellent managerial and organizational skills with close attention to detail with the ability to balance multiple tasks and achieve deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability and strong desire to articulately convey complex ideas to peers within the technology group and to people with less of an understanding of breeding and genetics such as managers, sales people, and customers.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications, but also the capacity to learn and work with Monsanto proprietary breeding software 
Desired Skills/Experience:
  • 5+ years experience managing a vegetable or row crop breeding program
  • Knowledge of quantitative genetics, functional genomics, genetic statistical theory, and experimental design as it is applied to plant breeding
  • Experience in Pepper/Solanaceous Breeding and Genetics within a protected environment is highly desirable but not mandatory.
