Position Purpose

This position contributes to the effective operation of the Accounting Department by performing general ledger accounting functions. Maintain the Lawson General Ledger (GL) module, Fixed Asset (AM) module and Project Accounting (AC) module. Process payroll information from Human Resources Department and ADP into the general ledger. Prepare various journal entries and GL account reconciliations as assigned and comply with department policies and procedures relative to required research and supporting documentation. Provide back-up support for Accounts Payable (AP) and daily/monthly tasks and report reconciliations. Support the General Accounting Manager and Accounting Department management.

  • Perform Lawson GL, chart of account and cost center maintenance as approved by accounting management. Assist in re-opening and closing monthly GL and update monthly Lawson report schedules.
  • Maintain the Lawson AM module and AC module and reconcile fixed assets against the subledger system. Review all fixed asset and project related invoices for accuracy of AM input details prior to accounts payable entry. Support the physical inventory of bank owned assets and complete necessary entries and reconciliations. Perform required maintenance in the ATOS asset management database. Provide fixed asset reports, project accounting reports and support to project managers, Business Technology Office, ATOS and other bank staff as needed.
  • Perform payroll related accounting functions. Complete payroll and related wires, prepare payroll related journal entries, account reconciliations, and reports. Provide support and analysis as necessary to Human Resources Department and accounting management.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations with clear description and supporting documentation for responsible accounts. Perform account research and analysis as needed.
  • Complete monthly close tasks including variance updates in trend report. Refresh the account trend report and other expense files.
  • Maintain accounting and desktop procedures related to the responsible areas/applications including the Lawson GL, AM, AC and payroll to ensure compliance of accounting policies and proedures, SOX and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and recommend enhancements to existing GL, AM and AC processes and procedures and improve internal controls. Participate in the Bank’s annual disaster recovery exercise for Lawson and other financial applications used by the Accounting Department.
  • Assist the Accounting Department by acting as a representative for records retention and archiving files to storage. Help with setting up various binders, folders, and filing, as needed.
  • Act as a backup for other accounting staff and performs accounting tasks including Accounts Payable, daily/monthly tasks and reconciliations, as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA or candidate desirable.
  • Two years experience in accounting, accounts payable, and payroll desirable.
  • High attention to detail, ability to organize work, manage deadlines, and work independently.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks requiring consistent accuracy.
  • Good working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess PC skills with Microsoft products such as Excel, Access, and Word. Prefer experience with accounting and accounts payable systems, such as Lawson.
