Senior Project manager Job Description

Essential Functions:
The Senior Project Manager in the Kaiser Permanente Information Technology (KP-IT) National Facilities Services Business Information Office (NFS BIO) is responsible for the successful delivery of one or more capital construction projects for facilities through disciplined IT project management processes and close collaboration with business partners, team members and various IT functions. The NFS BIO partners with Kaiser Permanente's National Facilities Services (NFS) to provide the IT services required to support construction projects at Kaiser Permanente facilities in San Diego, CA from single department remodels to new or replacement hospital construction. The Senior Project Manager will assume end-to-end project accountability to ensure delivery of IT solutions and services that provide the highest value in support of capital construction projects.

Responsibilities

-
Provide IT Infrastructure (WAN / LAN / Wireless / VoIP) project management for project team members, set achievable objectives, maintain a positive outlook, take responsibility, make decisions, and provide constructive feedback.

Build, track and monitor project plan(s) using MS Project to ensure the project is on schedule and on budget.

Define and document project scope and requirements.

Ensure project data is accurate and available for review by management and ensure management is proactively informed of potential problems and risks so that they can be mitigated or resolved before they become insurmountable.

Utilize a proactive change control process.
-
Use negotiation skills to achieve successful project outcomes around issues, scope, schedule, costs/budget and resources.

Manage the project funding/budget process.
-
Matrix manage project team members from other KP-IT groups who supply resources and services to the project.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

- 4 years of information technology experience that includes a broad understanding of IT infrastructure
.
- 4 years progressive experience as a project manager that includes managing implementations of medium to large moderately complex to complex projects.

- Strong customer focus and excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to monitor and manage vendor performance; and excellent relationship building and management skills.

Preferred

Broad understanding of capital construction projects gained through professional services consulting and/or project management; project management of at least one large-scale capital construction project or large-scale companywide initiative;
Demonstrated costumer focus; and a general understanding of the health care industry.
