DePuy Mitek is the Sports Medicine business offering orthopaedic sports medicine products, soft tissue repair devices, joint movement solutions and minimally invasive and arthroscopic solutions.
This position will be reporting to the Manager of External Operations. This new Contract Account Manager, for DePuy, will support the External Operations group to contemporary best practices, sourcing processes and delivery of results to meet & exceed the DePuy Franchise Sourcing OGSM's. She/He will execute DePuy's External Operations strategy and provide overall coordination, facilitation and enablement of programs that will drive best practice and that will leverage across DePuy & the MD&D Supply Chain. She/He will be a member on the DePuy Sourcing team and will be expected to provide a practical and intellectual understanding of the global DePuy & MD&D industry as well as having responsibilities for cost/quality/service/Supplier Enabled Innovation and Supplier Diversity.
The Contract Account Manager for DePuy Raynham will be responsible for managing all aspects of the relationship with assigned key External Operations suppliers to deliver reliable product supply and total cost effectiveness while meeting or exceeding all customer service, compliance, and product requirements. This includes material and process selection for purchases, assisting in locating and selecting suppliers per Category & Global Procurement Innovation strategies. This position will also focus on negotiating pricing and developing supply agreements. In addition, the Contract Account Manager will coordinate and lead business reviews with assigned our suppliers of externally manufactured finished goods, administer contracts for these suppliers, develop and improve large spend category strategies and major business processes such as business continuity and supplier selection to deliver annual improvements in total cost, quality and service, and support sites as needed.
Additional responsibilities will include: Communicate, monitor, and aggressively manage compliance with the sourcing strategy or business process. Ownership/Chairperson of the quarterly Supplier Management Committee meetings for the DePuy Mitek Franchise. Partner with the Category and Advanced Sourcing functions to ensure alignment to meet and exceed goals. Establish close working relationships with other functions, (e.g. Engineering, Operations, Regulatory, Finance, Marketing and Quality) to ensure full understanding and support of strategic sourcing perspective to key processes and address technical needs and regulatory requirements. Establish proactive issue communication to the MDD Supply Chain and Franchise Operations. Develop and implement strong business relationship to manage supplier partnerships & contribute positively to the efficiency of the MD&D Supply Chain. Participate in make vs buy decision making. Ensure alignment to the strategic direction provided by the Procurement Leadership Team. Track and manage performance of suppliers and ensure that performance issues are quickly addressed. Support SQE audits for External suppliers.
Champion annual productivity improvements by leading teams pursuing cost reduction opportunities in alignment with our Procurement's Operations Goals and Objectives (e.g. lowering inventory levels, increasing yields, operation improvement). Upgrade supplier skills (ship-to-stock, emerging technologies, SMI, etc.). Manage key supplier capabilities including but not limited to capacity planning, tooling and resource investments including inventory management. Develop an expertise in the business needs and capabilities for major spend categories or key business processes. Keep up with supply market trends, supplier economics, and best practice sourcing. Conduct industry research and market surveys in order to stay current with best in class procurement practices and customer demand. Ensure training on and compliance with relevant company procedures.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, Operations Management or a related field is required. MBA or Masters is preferred. APICS (American Production & Inventory Control Society) or CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification is preferred.
A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a logistics/supply chain role within a manufacturing environment is required. A minimum of 5 years procurement/sourcing experience is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills required. Proven ability to identify, negotiate and execute cost savings projects is required. Prior Project Management experience is required. Proven ability to lead cross functional teams in the resolution of product supply issues, execution of supply agreements, and delivery of Cost Improvement Projects (CIP's) is required. Proven ability to influence/collaborate in a complex matrix organization is required. Experience developing and executing business continuity plans are preferred. Analytical capability to absorb information and solve complex problems quickly is required. Experience with medical device supply chain is highly desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required; JDE or SAP experience is a plus. This position may require up to 25% travel both domestic and international.
