Primary focus of this position is implementation and management of the environmental, health and safety programs at a Medical Center and associated facilities to reduce the risk of human injury, potential liabilities and loss of company assets.

Essential Functions:
- Implement and manage the environmental, health and safety programs at a Medical Center and associated facilities to reduce the risk of human injury, potential liabilities and loss of company assets.
- Ensures, with outline of authority, functional compliance with Regional Safety policies and standards as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations and the Joint Commission.
- Complete and submit all regulatory reports within time frames.
- Under general supervision, conduct audits and analysis and evaluation of various safety programs.
- Performs pattern and trend analysis and assessment of potential safety risks.
- Recommends and monitors actions to reduce, eliminate, and/or avoid safety risks, including recommendations from management of deficits in knowledge, systems and behavior.
- Assists or facilitate safety committee meetings; prepare agendas, write and/or maintain minutes, compile summary reports and materials.
- Reviews and maintain Environment of Care policies.
- Respond to complaints and resolve issues if possible, escalate when needed.
- Manage hazardous waste storage inspection program and ensure compliance.
- Develop action plan for deficiencies, maintain records.
- Develops and implements safety training programs for management and staff.
- Schedule drills and ensure participation; ensure all fire drills are critiqued and documented.
- Assists, as needed, in planning and coordinating with other ongoing teams and projects to maximize effectiveness.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Two (2) to four (4) years previous safety-related work experiences in a healthcare setting.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety, natural science, engineering, health care or related curriculum or equivalent years of experience required.
- Safety Professional Certification or related certificates preferred.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials/waste management.
- Basic knowledge of Cal OSHA standards.
- Working knowledge of policies, practices and systems.
- Frequent use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Internship or other experience in EH&S or Workplace Safety preferred.
