Responsible for patient focused, quality, effective, efficient care and service behaviors of staff supporting the practices of nurse practitioners. Accountable for role clarity, communication, and performance management of staff so that the staff is best able to participate successfully as members of care teams. Supervises and coordinates the activities of personnel engaged in providing patient focused nursing care and related medical services in support of the nurse practitioner practices in the medical offices. Partners with the physician leaders in creating a culture of commitment to patient focused service, excellent support of nurse practitioner practices, innovation, compliance, ethics and integrity. Accountable for creating a culture of compliance, ethics and integrity. Maintains knowledge of and assures departmental compliance with Kaiser Permanente's Principles of Responsibility and policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Responds appropriately, including required reporting, to observed fraud or abuse.
Essential Functions:
- Supervises, leads, role models & coordinates the activities of personnel engaged in providing excellent patient focused care & supporting nurse practitioner practices through the provision of integrated, effective & innovative practices and related medical services.
- Interviews, selects, evaluates, motivates, orients, trains, coaches/counsels, disciplines & terminates unit personnel in collaboration w/ physician leaders and in compliance w/ requirements of EEO/AA goals, union contracts, & personnel policies of the organization.
- Continually improves service & staff productivity.
- Improves quality in partnership with CPMG.
- Monitors, identifies & investigates competency issues & service or support deficits associated with daily operations and overall patient care w/i the unit(s) and develops & administers corrective measures in collaboration w/ Permanente physicians to ensure safe & efficient working conditions.
- Collaborates w/ other facility leaders to design systems for providing high quality patient care services.
- Ensures highest standards & monitors clinical practice & documentation w/i the department to meet &/or exceed appropriate licensing/accrediting agency guidelines &/or standards.
- Accountable for outstanding support of nurse practitioner practices.
- Manages labor relations.
- Coordinates & adheres to budgetary needs for operation of the unit.
- Monitors quality assurance projects in collaboration w/ physician director.
- Maintain current information & knowledge of all applicable Kaiser Permanente policies, local, state & federal laws & regulations, & accreditation standards.
- Ensures that the training activities incorporate all applicable KP policies, local, state & federal laws and regulations, & accreditation standards.
- In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors & principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives
- Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, & behaviors necessary to provide superior & culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, & to purchasers, contracted providers & vendors
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse, preferably w/ the Kaiser Permanente medical care program.
- Completion of an accredited program for Nurse Practitioners or Advanced Practice Nursing in a discipline relevant to the work group they will supervise, current licensure (or eligibility) as an RN and enrollment (or eligibility) in the Advanced Practice Registry in the State of Colorado.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and/or coordinate the activities of staff in a clinical setting.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Taxonomy code required at time of hire.
- Position requires working with interruptions, occasionally working with bio-hazardous waste, and working around machinery and moving equipment, such as wheel chairs.
- Standard medical office environment.
- May be required to lift patients using proper lifting technique.
- Position requires oversight and travel to multiple locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of successful experience in a leadership role is preferred.
