The Property & Casualty Insurance Strategy Consultant (P&C Consultant), will work with IBM's Property & Casualty Insurance Industry clients (across commercial and personal lines) to develop innovative solutions to address core insurance business issues. The P&C Consultant will be a project team member, will learn to perform project tasks and begin to take responsibility for the leadership of sub-teams. They will also perform as a sub-team member and learn how project tasks relate to the larger client context as they produce project deliverables.
The P&C Consultant role requires the candidate to perform the following specific tasks:
- Understand the business challenges of our Property and Casualty Insurance clients.
- Identify specific business challenges across a variety of business domains such as Policy Administration, Underwriting, Billing, Claims, and Marketing and Distribution Channels.
- Define specific business requirements to address business issues and challenges.
- In collaboration with the rest of the team, ensure that the proposed solution addresses all the clientâ??s business requirements.
- Align business processes to technology using world class knowledge assets.
- Solve the clientâ??s business and technology challenges by utilizing deep understanding of the P&C Insurance Industry and ability to apply solutions.
- Develop deep relationships within the client organization and build effective cross-functional teams across diverse stake holder groups including client business and technical organizations.
- Work collaboratively with IBM's domestic and global delivery organizations and third party software vendors.
- Shape client's views on project deliverables by delivery high quality work products.
- Provide high quality, trusted advisor advice to customers to ensure appropriate process and technology solutions are proposed.
- Accelerate the competitive performance of clients globally by being a preferred business and technology consulting partner.
- Work in an unstructured environment and create and reuse intellectual capital to solve diverse, business and/or technology-related challenges.
Ideally, candidates should be experienced in the use of Issue Based Consulting techniques and specialized methodologies such as the IBM Global Services Method to create client value and develop client deliverables. They should demonstrate an ability to perform engagement team activities, including research, data collection, data analysis, preparation/presentation of recommendations and project design and implementation activities.
Since the majority of our consulting work is done at our client sites, this position requires extensive travel.
It is also expected that new hires in GBS will live within a reasonable commuting distance (generally 50 miles) of the following cities: Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Cincinnati, OH; Columbus, OH; Cleveland, OH; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Hartford, CT; Houston, TX; Kansas City, MO; Minneapolis, MN; Tulsa, OK; Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; New York City, NY and surrounding area; Philadelphia, PA; San Francisco, CA; and Washington, DC.

Required
- High School Diploma/GED
- At least 2 years experience in the Property and Casualty Insurance Industry.
- At least 2 years experience in identifying specific business challenges across a variety of business domains such as Policy Administration, Underwriting, Billing, Claims, and Marketing and Distribution Channels.
- At least 2 years experience in streamlining insurance operations/process improvements.
- At least 2 years experience in the use of process design/re-engineering and improvement/quality management methodologies and tools to improve operational workflow and efficiency
- At least 2 years experience in successfully managing client relationships
- At least 2 years experience in teaming and working effectively in cross-functional and geographically diverse teams
- Readiness to travel Up to 4 days a week (home on weekends-based on project requirements)
- English: Intermediate
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 4 years experience in the Property and Casualty Insurance Industry.
- At least 4 years experience in identifying specific business challenges across a variety of business domains such as Policy Administration, Underwriting, Billing, Claims, and Marketing and Distribution Channels.
- At least 4 years experience in streamlining insurance operations/process improvements.
- At least 4 years experience in the use of process design/re-engineering and improvement/quality management methodologies and tools to improve operational workflow and efficiency
- At least 4 years experience in successfully managing client relationships
- At least 2 years experience in professional services consulting at a national or global management consulting firm
- At least 4 years experience in teaming and working effectively in cross-functional and geographically diverse teams
- English : Fluent
