Strategy and Transformation Consultants routinely provide innovative business process design, systems integration, and business model transformation services to help clients optimize their organizations. These activities include (but are not limited to):
- Business case development
- Business process design and re-engineering
- Data architecture
- Systems integration
- Streamlining operations
- Facilitating the evaluation, selection, and implementation of supporting systems
- Managing all aspects of testing

IBM is seeking a Managing/Senior Managing Consultant to become part of our Financial Management Team within our Financial Services (FS) Sector. This team provides consulting services to the CFO Organization and Business Finance Partners in the areas of: - Finance Strategy
- Organizational operating models
- Performance measurement
- Financial and management reporting (including cost and revenue attribution processes)
- Accounting and reporting controls (including middle-office transaction accounting and product control)
- Core financial systems and analytic reporting applications
- Financial reference data and chart of accounts design
- Shared Services for finance processes
This role requires the candidate to understand the business challenges of FS clients. Through working with both client and IBM staff, the Consultant will develop solutions to those challenges that: - Solve the clientâs business and technology challenges by utilizing their deep understanding of the FS Industry (Insurance and Banking) and their ability to apply financial management solutions
- Provide high quality âtrusted advisorâ advice to customers to ensure appropriate process and technology solutions are proposed.
As a Consultant, you will lead medium to large projects and be responsible for overall successful delivery of Financial Management solutions to IBM's core FS clients. You will develop deep relationships within the client organization and build effective cross-functional teams across diverse stake holder groups, including client business and technical organizations, IBM's domestic and global delivery organizations, and third party software vendors.
A qualified candidate will have extensive experience with: - Controllership and accounting functions in the FS Industry, including the STAT and GAAP close processes
- Finance Transformation processes
- Front office to back office processes in the FS Industry
This position requires travel 4-5 days per week.
It is also expected that newly hired resources into the GBS live within a reasonable commuting distance (generally 50 miles) of the following cities: Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Cincinnati, OH; Columbus, OH; Cleveland, OH; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Hartford, CT; Houston, TX; Kansas City, MO; Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; New York City, NY and surrounding area; Philadelphia, PA; San Francisco, CA; and Washington, DC.

Required
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 2 years experience in managing Financial Management projects in a Financial Services environment (Banking and/or Insurance).
- At least 4 years experience in the Financial Services Industry: Banking or Insurance, including the front office to back office processes.
- At least 4 years experience in controllership and accounting functions in banks or insurance companies, including the accounting close processes (STAT and GAAP).
- At least 3 years experience in applying Finance Transformation solutions.
- At least 3 years experience in consulting including project management, team leadership, and client relationship management in support of the delivery of business and/or technical project solutions.
- At least 3 years experience in developing executive level relationships.
- Readiness to travel Up to 4 days a week (home on weekends-based on project requirements)
- English: Fluent
Preferred
- Master's Degree
- At least 5 years experience in managing Financial Management projects in a Financial Services environment (Banking and/or Insurance).
- At least 8 years experience in the Financial Services Industry: Banking or Insurance, including the front office to back office processes.
- At least 8 years experience in controllership and accounting functions in banks or insurance companies, including the accounting close processes (STAT and GAAP).
- At least 5 years experience in applying Finance Transformation solutions.
- At least 7 years experience in consulting including project management, team leadership, and client relationship management in support of the delivery of business and/or technical project solutions.
- At least 5 years experience in developing executive level relationships.
- At least 3 years experience in performing successful negotiations, developing winning proposals, and establishing a track record of consistently exceeding aggressive goals.
