The Ethicon Surgical Care business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies-including sutures, surgical staplers, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices-that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Ethicon Surgical Care business combines products and services of two market leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation. Ethicon Endo Surgery is currently recruiting for a Senior Test Engineer to be located in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supporting project teams with testing assistance and to assure timely completion of projects

Acting as consultant on test related issues for project team

Assisting in development of test schedules

Providing administrative direction & leadership to assigned test engineers, technicians, associates & co-ops within Reliability Development Lab

Providing administrative direction & leadership for outside source testing, when necessary

Working understanding of engineering concepts

Excellent organizational abilities

Able to work effectively in a team environment, able to deal effectively with different levels of personnel

Technical writing & oral communication skills

Able to understand engineering design issues in order to properly interpret test data generated

Able to conceptualize designs as they relate to test fixture & test equipment capabilities

Analytical abilities with creative thinking & problem solving abilities toward product testing & development while keeping a focus on customer needs

Able to develop new or refined applications of engineering principles used in analysis & resolution of technical issues during product development process

Management skills, direct or indirect supervision in a technical environment

Capable of managing multiple parallel projects with time constraints

Know & follow EES policies & procedures related to work activities performed in area of responsibility

Complete training in area of responsibility within allowed time-period. Training is required for changes in existing policies & procedures, for new assignments & for implementation of new policies & procedures. Complete required periodic re-training in areas such as safety and environmental

Follow all company safety policies & other safety precautions within work area. Promote safety to all associates that enter work area

Meet with lead engineer or project engineers on project to understand performance requirements & to determine project design of experiments & pre-clinical studies

Schedule required testing in reliability development lab

Assure tests are run properly

Report results to requestor

Run tests whenever necessary to support program timing

Document performance of test procedures & interprets results obtained from various studies

Coordinate maintenance & calibration of relevant test equipment in lab

Coordinate fixture development & fabrication when required

Maintain working knowledge of reliability development lab test equipment

Train other associates in reliability development lab test equipment knowledge

Develop new test procedures & methods to assure program reliability objectives are being met

Provide summary updates to project engineers & reliability development lab personnel

Document new product test needs

Report to reliability development lab manager or project team

Assure procurement of necessary equipment to complete tests & that equipment will be available to meet program timing

Coordinate design & testing by outside laboratories

Evaluate & replicate test data provided by third parties, ensuring quality of data & appropriateness of test methods

Develop & administer company rules & regulations in compliance within GLP & GMP

Computer Skills:

Personal computer software - Windows, word processing, e-mail & spreadsheet

Project planning & presentation software

Analytical software for technical modeling and problem solving (i.e. math analysis software, statistical analysis software)

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline is required.

A minimum of 5 years experience as an Engineer in an industrial manufacturing environment with a minimum of 2 years experience in a testing environment is required.

Experience with LabVIEW is required.

Experience with the following is preferred:

Supporting teams with testing assistance

Developing test schedules

Assigning test engineers, techs, associates and co ops within a test environment

Understanding engineering design issues to properly interpret test data
