Automation Engineer

 

Role of Automation Engineering:

The candidate will be responsible for the creation, management and maintenance of an Automated Testing Regression suite.  Strategic planning is critical to this role, as is the need created a short and long-term vision of our Automated Testing initiatives.  The candidate will have a key role working closely with the application architects to get key details for workflows to assure value of the automation.

·         Experience with automation tools and their supporting coding languages (VB Script, C, C++, Java)

·         Experience in setting up Test lab environment for Automation

Primary Responsibilities

·         Quickly assess automated testing opportunities and clearly articulate where the ROI is positive

·         Review requirements and workflows early in the SDLC to assess automation opportunities

·         Define best practices for QA regarding test automation leveraging industry standards

·         Create detailed metrics for all automated execution that will transpire during the QA phase of projects, key measures include time and cost savings

·         Work closely with QA project leads to review automation opportunities, address ROI and make recommendations accordingly

·         Continuously seek process improvements to create more robust automated testing activities

·         Build and refine Industry Standards and Best Practices for creating test cases to be written in the spirit of automation

·         Create resource and capacity plans providing estimates for cost and time to management

·         Present to senior leadership findings, suggestions, impacts and Cost Benefit Analysis of the automated testing initiatives

·         Leverage current team to build out automated testing suite, using detailed test cases and act as an internal consultant to assist the team with solutions moving forward

·         Develop a repeatable process and standards for automation initiatives seeking continuous process improvement

·         Analyze technology, industry, market trends and emerging business practices to determine their potential benefit and impact on the success of our organization

·         Working with the Performance Architect team , review and approve technical design proposals submitted by application teams in consultation with business, BA and PM teams

·         Create a governance and standards to the Automated Testing initiatives which will become part of the Test Management Organization (TMO) moving forward

·         Must work closely with stakeholders to get buy-in to the process and tools for the Automated Testing initiatives


Required Qualifications / Experience

·         A college or advanced degree in Computer Science or related field

·         Minimum three (5) years experience in Software Test Automation

·         HP Tool suite expertise including:

o    ALM

o    Quality Center (QC)

o    QTP (Unified Functional Testing)

·         Experience in driving, creating and managing automated testing initiatives for complex applications

·         Knowledge of existing and emerging technologies required

·         Excellent communications is required

·         Ability to work independently and within a team environment

·         Strong analytical skills; ability to creatively solve diverse problems

·         Relational Database knowledge and experience

·         Some familiarity with pharmaceutical marketing information and/or healthcare claims data is a plus

·         Experience with creation of detailed metrics and dashboards is required

·         Experience reporting to Executive level management is preferred

·         Experience and knowledge of Insurance applications is a plus
