MUMPS/Cache Developer

Looking for experienced MUMPS /CACHE developers with the ability to design applications to deliver healthcare project solutions enhancing Coventry’s in-house software library. Our core claims application uses MUMPS / Cache technology, a
technology we are committed to retain and expand. So much so that we own the source code!

GENERAL SUMMARY
Performs development and maintenance programming and associated tasks for application systems, including integrated software and hardware application configurations. Analyzes business processes to define application functional requirements and technical specifications. Directs and participates in software/hardware releases and installation tasks. May provide guidance to staff on complex assignments.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in and may direct the analysis and definition of efficient, cost effective application solutions which support client business processes and functional requirements.
- Performs and may direct software coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and installation tasks for on-line and batch processes in accordance with industry best practices and specific internal procedures and standards.
- Contributes to the development and direction of task identification, work effort estimates, and work schedules for development and maintenance activities.
- Participates in and may direct problem definition and problem resolution activities.
- Coordinates with internal departments to provide associated deliverables required for the successful completion of development and maintenance assignments (e.g. database development, job scheduling, network support, help desk orientation, client implementation readiness, etc.)
- Conducts client interviews to perform analysis of client business processes and functional requirements.
- Prepares appropriate documentation to communicate and validate the information.
- May participate in client committees and may coordinate client involvement in development and maintenance tasks as needed.
- May prepare and conduct presentations of various work products.
- May train staff and review the technical work of staff.
- Provides on-call support. May coordinate on-call response efforts as assigned.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Previous (5-7 years) experience in all phases of applications software development/maintenance life cycles in a client server environment.
- Familiarity with the following items required: MUMPS / M Programming and Cache (Cache Object Scripts / MCOS).
- Familiarity with the following items preferred: Ensemble, HL7, GE Healthcare Centricity Business (formerly IDX Flowcast - MCA, DBMS and BAR), Epic, and/or VistA.
- Demonstrated excellence in technical skills and knowledge required in one or more higher level programming languages respective to various client server / web-based programming development environments.
- Strong skills required in critical thinking and analysis, verbal and written communications, and interpersonal interactions (e.g. partnering, conflict management, consulting, etc.).
- Understanding of health care business and care delivery processes preferred.
