2013 R&D Co-op Program, Ethicon Endo Surgery(Job Number: 000008B7)

Description

Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc., a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for 2012 - 2013 R&D Co-ops, located in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. develops and markets advanced medical devices for minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. The company focuses on procedure-enabling devices in general and bariatric surgery, gastrointestinal health, gynecology and surgical oncology. Products include: the ENDOPATH® XCEL™ Access System; CONTOUR™ Curved Cutter Stapler; HARMONIC™ ultrasonic cutting and coagulating surgical devices; and the MAMMOTOME® Breast Biopsy System for diagnosis of early-stage breast cancer.

As a co-op in the R&D department at Ethicon Endo-Surgery, you will have the opportunity to use state of the art tools and take advantage of training courses offered on-site. You will be assigned to a specific product team to perform testing, experimentation and validation to support product design. Responsibilities will increase with each rotation as you learn more by returning to school. Rotations are generally 6 months and availability for multiple rotations is desired. We offer a competitive wage and subsidized, furnished housing for non-local students.

As an R&D Co-op, you will contribute to design solution activity through utilization of previously learned skills with CAD tools, simulation tools, fundamental engineering principles, and expert guidance from seasoned Team Engineers. You will also receive anatomy training, which includes application to instrument design as it relates to surgical procedures; and you will assist in developing laboratory testing, interpreting data results, and recommending next steps. Many of the R&D Co-ops receive intermediate CAD training, if applicable, including building simulation models, developing kinematics models, and performing stack-up analysis.

The Ethicon Endo-Surgery R&D Co-op program supports approximately 25 co-ops each season. This provides each student with a great support system, as well as the opportunity to meet people from various schools throughout the country. We also offer a housing option for students who need to relocate for the duration of the co-op.

Qualifications

In order to be eligible for a 2013 R&D Co-op position, candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college/institution pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related field. Only students in their second year or above will be considered.

Candidate must be considered a student during the desired co-op session(s) (i.e. will not have already graduated college). A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred, with demonstrated leadership/participation in campus programs and/or community service activities. Students must be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship in the future.
