The Safety Surveillance Analyst (SSA) is responsible for supporting post-marketing surveillance of medical devices. The SSA will participate on a team that will also include a Medical Safety Officer, Epidemiologist, Biostatistician and Quality Engineers to identify, investigate and evaluate safety signals and trends related to company products.

The SSA will extract relevant safety data from sources including databases (complaints, adverse events, clinical trials), post marketing registries, electronic healthcare databases (including claims and electronic medical record databases) and from literature. The SSA will work with the team to analyze this data to identify potential safety signals and trends. The SSA will be responsible for identifying important confounding factors or trends that may influence the analysis. This position is responsible for compiling and summarizing this information into reports to be used for safety surveillance activities.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelors Degree is required with an advanced training in epidemiology, public health, statistics, and/or safety surveillance highly preferred.

A minimum of 2 years of experience the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry is required for this role; experience in the Medical Device industry is preferred, but not mandatory. This role requires a strong background in analytical methods, statistical methods and proficiency with software such as SAS, Stata etc. Experience working directly with product complaints and electronic healthcare databases (including claims and electronic medical record databases) is highly preferred.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to multi-task and strong organizational skills is required, as is proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products. The successful candidate must be able to work independently on routine tasks.
