Under the direction of the Regional Director for Enterprise Finance & Staffing (ES&F), oversees the activities of the Regional Enterprise Staffing and Finance team that looks at staffing enterprise-wide across NCAL hospital nursing and non-nursing. Acts as liaison in behalf of and expert consultant to staffing offices CNOs and their directors. Oversees all analytics related to the same.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the ES&F Team.
- Identifies performance drivers, risks and opportunities related to staffing, drills down to unit and shift level, develops recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Maintains solid and current monthly position control across the enterprise.
- Escalate issues identified in the daily/weekly oversight process to the appropriate level both regionally and locally.
- Acts as liaison in behalf of staffing offices and ensures proper coordination with supplemental nursing vendors, Accounts Payable and Procurement.
- Coordinates with local staffing managers to ensure compliance to contract and Joint Commission required documentations are met routinely for supplemental staff.
- Oversees decision support analysis, reviews posting requisitions submitted by the medical centers to ensure the most cost effective options are considered and financial risks minimized.
- In a matrix environment, directs a peer group of NCAL Staffing Office Managers.
- Provides formal/informal coaching and guidance to Staffing Office Managers.
- Runs a monthly peer group providing strategic focus and direction.
- Participates actively in C.N.A/LMP related staffing and scheduling issues and actively leads analysis of schedules to support bargaining activities that may have financial implications.
- Collaborates with ELRC &HR as needed.
- Acts as a consultant to facility Staffing Offices and CNOs and their Directors.
- Performs audits and effectiveness of Staffing Offices as necessary.
- Acts as liaison and business partner to KPIT for ANSOS/OneStaff for NCAL.
- Publishes accurate and timely productivity reports daily, weekly and bi-weekly.
- Trouble shoots with MIA or FP&A as necessary.
- Prepares and makes effective presentations to leadership groups as requested, while tailoring message to appropriate audience.
- Provides content knowledge and updates training and education materials in collaboration with staffing office managers and other subject matter experts.
- Promotes team effort and pride within ES&F, tracks team projects and manage special projects.
- Actively works with each staff member of the team to ensure the staff feels valued, provides coaching, identifies training opportunities for staff development and provides regular and consistent feedback.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) years of progressive experience as a manager within health care.
- Experience of working with ANSOS/OneStaff, KRONOS scheduling and staffing system or similar systems preferred.
- BA or BS in business Administration or finance.
- Advanced degree in a related field preferred.
- Strong financial analysis background and ability to analyze data and fairly interpret and represent the needs of operations.
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative and effective communication skills.
- Strong strategic, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to think outside of the box, embrace the culture of continuous performance improvement, and adapt to new tools and innovations for better solutions.
- Must be able to prioritize as often as necessary to meet customer needs.
- Working knowledge of finance and hospital operations specific to staffing Inpatient Nursing, Periop, Support Services, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy departments preferred.
- Knowledge of the Joint Commission process specific to staffing documentations to meet compliance requirements as well as working knowledge of local, state, federal regulations preferred.
