Ethicon Surgical Care is currently recruiting for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to be located in Somerville, NJ or Cincinnati, OH. The person can also be based at any another MD&D Facility.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Group Category Manager - Non-Sterile Packaging in the MD&D Packaging Category - the Sourcing Specialist will support category development, sourcing of components and supplier relationship management for the Non-Sterile Secondary Packaging category.
A Sourcing Specialist will: assist internal customers with material and process selection for purchases, assist customers in locating and selecting suppliers for purchases per category strategies, negotiate prices, develop and administer contracts for strategic suppliers, develop strategic suppliers, develop and improve large spend category strategies and major business processes such as business continuity and supplier selection to deliver annual improvements in total cost, quality and service, and support sites as needed.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will develop an expertise in the business needs and capabilities for major spend categories or key business processes. This individual will keep up with supply market trends, supplier economics, and best practice sourcing. The Specialist will seek to improve capabilities of the supplier base or key business processes. The individual will report performance data for assigned categories or key business processes. The Specialist will communicate, monitor, and aggressively manage compliance with the sourcing strategy or business process. The individual will establish close working relationships with other functions (e.g. engineering, operations, marketing, quality) to ensure full understanding and support of strategic sourcing perspective to key processes. The Specialist will track and manage performance of suppliers and ensure that performance issues are quickly addressed. The individual will identify sources of data for performance metrics, create a process to collect data, and champion the collection efforts. The Specialist will champion annual productivity improvements by leading internal & joint supplier / teams pursuing cost reduction opportunities in alignment with the sourcing strategy (e.g. lowering inventory levels, increasing yields, improving supplier operations, etc.). The individual will contribute to the continuous development of sourcing knowledge base and best practice by identifying and implementing sourcing "pockets of excellence". The Specialist will partner with key stakeholders and partners to address technical issues for components and processes. The individual will ensure training on and compliance with relevant company procedures.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, logistics, business administration, operations or equivalent experience
MBA preferred
CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification preferred
2-4 years of business experience required
1-3 years procurement/sourcing experience preferred
Minimum 1 year category experience desirable
