The LPN Pharmacy Nurse in this position participates in the delivery of healthcare services by obtaining provider’s orders for new and refill medication, management of critical laboratory values and providing members with medical information and patient education, The Pharmacy Nurse will utilize guidelines and materials approved by the medical staff in regards to diagnostic test preparation, and procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Obtains verbal orders for new and refill medication orders from the On-Call Provider, following established guidelines.
- Notifies Kaiser Permanente Pharmacy or Affiliated Pharmacy of medication orders.
- Follows established guidelines for documentation of all pharmacy related activities.
- Participates in the Nurse Callback Process for patients requesting medical information or education in regards to diagnostic test preparation, and procedures.
- Receives verbal and fax reports of critical lab values from Central Lab and Quest Labs.
- Notifies the On-Call Provider of the critical lab value, obtains verbal orders, follows up with patient and documents all activities, as per protocol.
- Consults the member’s medical record to provide lab values, x-ray results, medications, and other information as requested by the provider, when the member is hospitalized.
- Notifies the RN of all patients requiring triage and advice.
- Schedule patient appointment as directed by the On-Call Provider.
- Documents calls specific to assignment, and in accordance with established work flow and standards.
- Documents key components of the patient encounter.
- Participates in the Call Center’s Annual Clinical Skill Competencies.
- Works in collaboration with other Kaiser Permanente Departments.
- Participates in quality improvement activities as assigned.
- Demonstrates progressive proficiency with the utilization of available computer technology.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Current LPN licensure in the State of Georgia.
- Three to five years of current experience as an LPN in a clinical setting.
- Basic keyboarding skills.
- Knowledge of basic nursing pharmacology.
- Knowledge of standard and Critical laboratory values.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year experience in ambulatory care.
- Excellent Customer Service Skills.
- Knowledge of intermediate Nursing Pharmacology.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
