Under the immediate supervision of a licensed Clinical Social Worker, Psychologist or board certified Psychiatrist, provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment and crisis intervention of members with acute or chronic psychiatric disorders. Collaborates with treating physician, psychiatric and allied health professional team to plan and direct member's treatment program.
Essential Functions:
- Assesses diagnoses and treats a broad range of psychiatric disorders.
- Develops and coordinates a clinical treatment plan for the Health Plan member with acute or chronic psychiatric illnesses.
- Consults with supervisor and psychiatric staff regarding member's treatment as appropriate.
- Provides outpatient psychotherapy to individuals and groups.
- Charts member's treatment and progress in accordance with state regulations and department procedures.
- Interprets psychiatric treatment to member's family and helps to reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of psychiatric care and continuation of treatment, if member requests this.
- Works with Case Manger and refers member's family to community support services and resources as appropriate.
- Utilizes resources of public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the needs of members.
- Collaborates with supervisor and physicians in screening and evaluating members for psychotropic medications.
- Reports safety concerns to mandated reporting agencies.
- This position does not have the authority to hire, fire or discipline.
Secondary Functions:
- This position will provide mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment and crisis interventions services for clients requesting care in this department.
- Collaborate with treating physicians, psychiatric and allied health professional team to plan and direct each individual member's treatment program.
- Provides consultation to psychiatrists, allied health professionals and other specialty care providers on psychological assessment.
- Participate in staff conferences to select, plan and evaluate treatment programs.
- Prepare intake summaries, treatment plans and other written material to maintain ongoing confidential records.
- The position will provide on call service on a rotation basis that will require nights and weekends
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Master's degree in social work required from an accredited college or university.
- Once hired as an assistant, an employee will be offered and must work a schedule that would accumulate at least half the required supervisory hours annually. Once the assistant obtains the required supervised hours, the employee has two (2) years from that date to complete state licensure.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years Professional experience under a license practitioner.
- Graduated from an accredited college or university.
- Current valid license to practice or eligible for completing license requirement to practice.
