Description

Medical Devices & Diagnostics Global Services, LLC., Global Supply Chain Organization is recruiting for a Senior Electrical/Control Systems Engineer to support the Ethicon Franchise. This position will initially be located in Cornelia, GA and eventually transition to Athens, GA.

Work of the MD&D SC supports a multitude of product platforms, new products and delivery systems that are used in a wide range of procedures throughout the healthcare industry, including interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, minimally invasive surgery, hospital sterilization, clinical laboratory testing, diabetes management, joint replacement surgery and vision care.

The essential functions for the Senior Electrical/Control System Engineer will include the following; Implementation and validation of computerized control systems for manufacturing equipment in a fast paced production environment, including PLC, HMI, SCADA, robotic, and vision inspection systems, for new equipment, retrofits, or modifications, both for machine and process controls. Preparation of protocols, data collection, data analysis and presentation, completion reports, fact book compilation, and document change package preparation. Independently perform process and project activities with general instruction. Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, and systems applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering supporting the manufacturing area. Directs plant and outside contractors and suppliers in the installation and troubleshooting on equipment. Responsible for directing the training of maintenance and production personnel on new and existing equipment. Prepares proposals for immediate and long-term programs for the manufacturing equipment and systems. Prepares reports and presentations to management on recommendations. Designs manufacturing equipment electrical and control systems, including PLC, HMI, SCADA, robotic, and vision inspection systems for machine and process controls. Prepares and controls budget. Defines scope of projects, estimating cost and time, and prepares justification for capital forecast projects. Evaluates progress, results, and recommends changes in procedures and systems, as business and equipment/electrical needs change.

Additional responsibilities will include; Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/facilitator. Follow current compliance regulations and standards. Support Plant Diversity Process. Ensure safe working conditions and practices in the department. Execute product design and change control in accordance with ETHICON procedures. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and ISO 9000 requirements and complete related documentation as required. Working knowledge of SPC, FDA, Safety, OSHA, and environmental requirements and complete related documentation as required. Assist in preparation of annual Business Plan, including identification of new projects to drive growth and cost control for both enterprise and operating company success. Originate Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) for new capital required for project work. Fulfill all business plan and CAR obligations for assigned areas of responsibility. Drive identification and successfully implement cost improvement projects (CIP).

Qualifications


A BSEE is required for this position. A minimum of 4 years of relative experience with a Bachelor's degree or 2 years of relative experience with a Master's degree is required. Ability to plan and develop a systematic approach to work activities, establishing clear requirements and objectives, and multi-project management skills in a fast paced environment is required. Knowledge of PLC Programming is required. Knowledge of Robotics, EE Drafting, Instrumentation, and Data Analysis are preferred. Advanced computer software application experience, Manufacturing Execution Systems, etc. is preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills are required. Analytical problem solving skills and excellent customer service skills are required. Outstanding leadership ability is preferred. Knowledge of Medical Device Manufacturing Regulations (FDA, ISO 13485, etc.) is preferred. The ability to interface with all levels in an FDA regulated environment is preferred. The ability to maintain current state-of-the-art technical skills in area of expertise is preferred.
