Proactively leads, directs, develops, and implements plant wide programs and activities to produce safe/quality products through efficient sanitation programs that comply with all established company policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines. Is responsible for administering, managing, and maintaining all sanitation, GMP, HACCP, pest management, and Food Defense Programs as required by the MillerCoors Quality Management System. Provides systems management guidance and training to plant personnel regarding food plant sanitation and hygiene pest control, food plant security, pasteurization cleaning requirements, chemical utilization, and draft beer operations. Is a key resource for providing inputs to optimizing hygienic design of equipments, providing approved chemical / FCC suppliers, and to corporate & other breweries to address mutual concerns in these areas.

Is responsible for adhering to all rules, regulations, policies, programs and related MillerCoors Quality Management System, e.g., SQF, HACCP and GMP, etc to ensure safety and quality of MillerCoors products.

Education level and/or experience



  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field of study (preferred degrees in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cereal Science, Microbiology, Food Science, Agronomy, and Chemical Engineering). 
  • A state certification as a Sanitarian desirable. (State Certification requires bachelors’ degree, minimum of two years experience in Environmental Health position and successful completion of review and written exams administered by State Advisory Board.)
  • HACCP and pest control certification is required. 
  • ASQ Quality Engineer Certification (CQE) preferred 
  • Advanced degree or certificate in brewing or packaging preferred 
  • Certification in quality related disciplines (e.g., Six Sigma and SQF) preferred. 
  • Five (5) years experience in quality related processes with a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in manufacturing or the food and beverage industry

Skills and/or knowledge 


  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, Good Manufacturing Practices, and State and Local regulations governing food protection. 
  • Awareness and understanding of the impact that EPA and OSHA regulation have on sanitation. 
  • Demonstrated project management experience is necessary. 
  • A thorough knowledge of company SQF and HACCP programs is required. Formal SQF and HAACP training is required. 
  • Must have advance knowledge in the use of cleaners and sanitizers, CIP and high pressure cleaning equipment. Training in Brewery microbiology is required. 
  • Working knowledge of food-plant pest control procedures for rodents, insects and birds. 
  • Must have a working knowledge of chemicals used in the brewing industry to effectively participate in the Chemical Review Board process and judge proper safety applications in the brewery. 
  • Expert in the use of advanced problem solving tools. 
  • Proficiency in Process, Packaging Quality and Facilities areas. 
  • Working knowledge of pasteurizers, their operation and water treatment requirements. 
  • Possess a working knowledge of the draft beer operation to allow for effective coordination of sanitation requirements and troubleshooting of this process. 
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate and motivate all levels of salaried and hourly employees and obtain their commitment. 
  • Possess good judgment, initiative, discretion, and interpretive and problem solving abilities. 
  • Posses a working knowledge of food plant operation, sanitation and environmental issues. 
  • Must be familiar with sanitary design of equipment and materials specifications as they apply to Plant Sanitarian. Must be able to work closely with Engineering and Maintenance Personnel in the area.
