The Johnson & Johnson Global Surgery Group, a member of the Johnson and Johnson Family of Companies, has an opportunity for a Manager, Sterilization Science and Technology, located at its Ethicon site in Somerville, New Jersey.

The Manager position will be responsible to lead the Sterilization Science and Technology department, which is part of the Applied Science and Technology group within the Innovation organization. This department supports the development and marketing of a wide range of surgical care products, including: wound closure and tissue repair technologies; biosurgical technologies to manage intraoperative bleeding and postoperative leaking and sealing; minimally invasive gynecological and urological solutions; and breast implants for reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.

The Manager, Sterilization and Technology will be responsible for leading and managing employees within Sterilization Science & Technology. She/ He will coordinate and manage efforts to achieve group and business goals and objectives. She/ He will ensure sterilization related compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements and will develop and review project plans for the sterilization validation and launch of new products. The successful candidate will develop and review sterilization test protocols and methodologies and will create industry leading innovative solutions and processes. The individual will maintain company sterilization procedures and support existing business (when required) in providing technical guidance with regards to sterilization. Further, the manager will develop and maintain group budget and foster collaboration with R&D teams within the Global Surgery Group Innovation organization.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelors of Science degree is required. An advanced degree is preferred. A minimum of 7 years of industry experience in the area of sterilization is required. Experience with Sterilization within the Medical Device industry would be highly desired. In-depth knowledge of sterilization validation methodologies for radiation, ethylene oxide, dry heat and/ or moist heat sterilization is preferred. This position will require demonstrable experience in leading multi-functional project teams, preferably with multiple and simultaneous complex projects related to design of systems impacting R&D, Operations, External Manufacturers and/ or quality process. Prior experience with R&D and Manufacturing and in a GMP environment is preferred. In-depth knowledge of sterilization standards from ISO, AAMI and ASTM is desired.

This position will require excellent oral & written communication skills, proven ability to think and act strategically, and strong problem solving ability in order to provide innovative solutions for customers. This position will be based in Somerville, NJ. This position will require up to 25% domestic and international travel.
