Directly provides or coordinates age appropriate spiritual care and support to hospitalized patients and their families which are consistent with their spiritual traditions and values.

Essential Functions:
- Directly provides by assessment and provision of spiritual care needs to patients and their families while hospitalized at the Medical Center utilizing personal and community resources as well as the multi-disciplinary team.
- Assures plans are clearly documented, implemented, and evaluated for effectiveness.
- Actively participates in quality management, performance improvement and regulatory compliance activities of the hospital.
- Participate in evaluation, policy, and goal development as requested.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of pastoral care experience in a health care setting.
- Master's degree in Theology, Divinity, Philosophy or Ethics or related discipline.
- Completion of at least four units of CPE.
- Thorough knowledge of crisis intervention.
- Working knowledge of diverse belief systems which could effect planning for medical care and ability to articulate same for clinical staff.
- Demonstrated ability in pastoral care counseling techniques in working with patients and families experiencing loss/death/grief with respect and sensitivity in individual beliefs, coping mechanisms and spiritual practices.
- Ability to participate effectively within an interdisciplinary team through negotiation, cooperation, and group learning.
- Ability to document clinical care clearly and concisely in an electronic medical record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of experience providing Pastoral Care on a multi-disciplinary team in a health care setting preferred.
- Demonstrated competency in health care ethics preferred.
