Participates in, and may develop and/or implement company-wide HR programs and initiatives (e.g., salary review, workforce planning, and organizational change). Works closely with management in the implementation of corporate policies related to human resources, organizational and employee development. Consults with employees and managers to address human resources issues. Assists in the alignment of human resources with strategic business objectives. Key skills and abilities include coaching, influence, facilitation, presentation, communication, process development, strategic and tactical analysis and problem solving.

Essential Functions:
- May have responsibility for strategic, complex labor relations issues.
- Provides input to staffing strategies, including input to succession planning and reorganizations.
- May interview candidates for executive roles.
- Partners with functional specialists to provide compensation management and influence compensation decisions with client, including executive compensation.
- Responsible for HR program training of line management and of other HR professionals.
- May be responsible for identifying and influencing training needs.
- Influences management regarding strategic development and leads change management and project management efforts in support of strategic initiatives.
- Utilizes reports and analyses from HRIS resources to proactively identify trends or issues, conduct root cause analysis, and suggest corrective action, influencing decision makers to implement changes.
- Leads process implementation by less experienced team members.
- Generally responsible for ownership of HR programs for complex groups.
- Works on assignments of diverse and complex scope.
- Interprets less defined guidelines to make recommendations for process improvements and/or enhancements.
- Requires complex planning to coordinate with other departments or resources.
- Generally responsible for engagement of functional areas of larger size or complexity.
- Responsibilities impact the achievement of key functional and/or KP objectives that have direct and significant business impact.
- Contributes to the development of the department's objectives.
- Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in the inability to reach functional objectives and negatively affect expenditures and resources.
- Involves interpreting and analyzing established concepts and trends.
- Exercises considerable judgment to make decisions for less defined and complex issues.
- Requires complex decision-making.
- Develops solutions to a diverse range of complex problems, which require creativity and innovation within broadly defined policies and practices.
- Requires in-depth analysis to identify and recommend new solutions for more complex problems.
- Provides professional/technical guidance to team members.
- Influences others to buy into new concepts and methodologies.
- Engages in matters requiring coordination across functional lines.
- Maintains customer focus and positive client relationships.
- Requires ability to change thinking or gain acceptance from others in sensitive situations without damage to the relationships.
- Regularly interacts with senior leadership within the client organization.
- Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.
- Work is accomplished without considerable direction.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Eight (8) to twelve (12) years of HR generalist experience.
- Four (4) year degree in human resources or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Graduate coursework may be preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of human resources policies, practices and systems.
- Regularly contributes to the development of new human resources/ employee relations concepts, techniques, and standards.
- Considered expert in field within KP.
- Frequently contributes to the development of new department human resources and employee relations methods.
- Employs expertise as a generalist or specialist.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate coursework may be preferred.
- Considered expert in field within Kaiser Permanente.
