Assure Medical Center building maintains ongoing compliance with Local, State, Federal and Regulatory requirements and standards. Coordinate remodels, office/department moves, and building maintenance projects. Identify and implement measures to assure compliance with KPNW building appearance standards and Kaiser Permanente's branding requirements. Assure a safe, secure, attractive, and pleasant physical environment in which to receive and deliver medical care and services. Direct operations of Environmental Services, Linen Services, Mail Room Services, and other departments as assigned.

Essential Functions:
- Assure, in collaboration with Safety and Facilities leadership, Medical Center building(s) complies with all Local, State, Federal, and Regulatory (e.g. TJC, OSHA) requirements and standards.
- In collaboration with administrators, managers/supervisors, and Facilities Department representatives, identify and recommend actions necessary to assure ongoing compliance.
- Participate in and provide leadership to departments and committees accountable for thorough review and follow up on concerns.
- Direct overall operations of assigned departments by:
- Performing all elements of supervision, including but not limited to hiring and developing qualified managers, supervisors, and staff, managing performance, applying Corrective Action, and terminating employment if necessary.
- Complying with Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Creating and supporting an environment where both individual and team work is rewarded.
- Resolving sensitive employee-initiated concerns.
- Negotiating satisfactory resolutions on complaints/grievances as appropriate.
- Applying sound fiscal management practices and efficient utilization of resources and funds within designated budget authority.
- Evaluating capital equipment and project requests.
- Coordinate, in conjunction with administrators, managers, supervisors, staff, Facilities Department representatives, and building tenants all Medical Center minor remodels, office moves, planned/unplanned building maintenance projects, and ongoing building management needs by:
- Negotiating time frames for ordering equipment and furniture on minor remodeling projects with construction contractor, architect, outside vendors, Facilities Department and internal and external departments.
- Assuring delivery and installation of equipment and furniture is performed within established timeframes and with minimal disruption to patient care and services.
- Collaborating with telecommunications to assure minimal disruption of patient care and department business.
- Authorizing all telecommunication moves.
- Identifying and recommending opportunities and solutions to space needs for Medical Center departments in order to support member/patient care and services needs as well as department operations requirements.
- Investigating and evaluating furniture and equipment to assure compliance with the Medical Center's color palette and National Purchasing standards.
- Maintaining building appearance standards.
- Resolving problems and concerns such that disruption to members/patients and staff is minimized.
- Supporting new construction and major remodeling projects.
- Managing the Interim Life Safety Management (ISLM) process for all construction.
- Coordinating with NFS Project Managers all construction projects.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Combined management and supervisory experience involving Building Management and/or Environmental Services Management in progressively responsible leadership roles: Ten (10) years.
- Management/supervisory experience in a health care organization: Three (3) years.
- Management/supervisory experience with union-represented employees: Three (3) years.
- Demonstrated budget development and management experience.
- Demonstrated experience and skills to provide direct leadership as well as leadership through influence and collaboration.
- Bachelor's degree in business, health care, or related field, or equivalent combination of formal and/or on-the-job education and experience.
- Hospital Environmental Manager (HEM) Certification.
- Knowledge of computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, multimedia presentations).
- Knowledge and understanding of complete building construction processes, including scoping, schematic design, design-development, and construction.
- Ability to effectively read and interpret floor plans/blue prints.
- Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal regulations and requirements pertinent to building management.
- Demonstrated effective skills in leadership, oral and written communication, analytical problem solving, project management, quality management, and systems thinking.
- Extensive knowledge of building maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Building management experience in a hospital/medical center preferred.
- Knowledge of licensing and accreditation standards pertaining to hospitals (e.g. TJC, CMS) preferred.
