Education level and/or experience
- 4-year Engineering degree (Chemical/Mechanical preferred); additional MS Engineering or MBA preferred
- Utility Design experience in the beverage or food related industry and/or utilities operations experience preferred.
- Advanced multi-disciplinary knowledge in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical engineering methods; projects managed from inception to completion with little direction or guidance
Skills and/or knowledge
- Actively coordinates and actively participates in the engineering and design process; must posses a working knowledge in all the areas of responsibility
- Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor others
- 6 years of practical experience in engineering and design activities associated with developing, designing and implementing capital projects; mid-level technical and practical application experience is required
- Facilitates change and manages projects and from conception through implementation; participates on significant, large-scale projects â establishes best practices
- Multi-disciplinary knowledge and application of Electrical, Mechanical, and Chemical engineering methods
- Possesses ability to handle multiple projects with little guidance or direction.
- Working knowledge of materials handling equipment and systems operations, mechanical and hydraulic functions and relationships in packaging equipment and conveyor systems
- Basic skills in understanding mechanical relationships and demand calculations for equipment utilized in refrigeration, water, air, and other basic utility functions, must have a working knowledge of fluid flow theory and pump operations for process systems.
- Possesses ability to handle multiple projects of varying complexity in a self-directed manner; demonstrates sound project management skills.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to relate to all levels of the plant and corporate organization.
- Must possess the leadership skills necessary to coach and develop the work group members and managers in the areas of project development and implementation.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills, function at a high degree of proficiency in a team based environment and be able to effectively motivate and develop employees, vendors, contractors, etc. in an indirect reporting relationship.
- Must possess a high proficiency in writing and developing preliminary designs and related contracts, cost estimating, project management and all other related engineering practices, including effect on maintenance, cost factors, budgetary impact.
- Must have the ability to become thoroughly familiar with brewery operational systems and processes.
- Must have a good level of understanding and practical application of Human Resources related functions such as plant safety rules and regulations, the collective bargaining agreement, training requirements and techniques.
- Must possess strong mathematical skills to include but not limited to control charts, algebra and geometry.
- Must have a sound knowledge of computers and related software programs, such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Intergraph, CAD, MiBuy, the Internet and SAP used in performing day-to-day functions of the position.
- Must have the ability to effectively interface and coordinate Corporate Engineering projects, fulfilling the role of Resident Engineer, to include contracting, coordinating and supervising corporate contractors and maintaining all administrative aspects of the corporate project.
- Must possess strong working knowledge of the laws, codes and other federal, state and local regulations and guidelines, such as NEC, OSHA, etc. impacting the work in this position.
- Must have a working knowledge of ergonomics applications to any equipment or engineering work being performed
