Specifically, the Associate Partner (AP), as a member of the Customer Innovation & Growth team, will lead or support teams implementing business, process or technology change in our Financial Services (FS) client organizations in both competitive sales proposal situations and on client engagements. This role involves gathering facts, analyzing the client's business (competitors, markets, customers, value propositions, operational models, etc), drawing conclusions, and reporting upon that work. It also includes re-engineering business processes, streamlining operations and/or facilitating the evaluation, selection and implementation of supporting systems.

This role may take either a strategic or tactical view of a company's total business. They work proactively with clients to refine their current business strategy or develop a new strategy in line with competitive and market forces. They also identify strategic capabilities needed to create and sustain one or more sources of competitive advantage; these capabilities may come in the form of process, information technology, organization enablement, or knowledge. They identify best practices and client performance gaps. They use tools to identify, align, and change the factors that affect performance, stability, and teaming and develop comprehensive transformation recommendations.

Candidates will have Banking or Insurance industry experience, an ability to articulate FS industry trends and issues, as well as, broad consulting expertise in marketing, customer strategy, and sales and service operations improvement. The AP should also have functional expertise in Customer/Marketing Management including but not limited to: customer strategy, growing and retaining customer relationships from a strategy perspective, customer experience design, marketing & sales effectiveness, creating more sales opportunities, understanding of customer behaviors and ways to deliver more accurate information to customers.

The AP will:
  • Mentor and manage teams of people within IBM, including building and leading internal communities of IBM industry practitioners;
  • Provide client and IBM team leadership in support of projects that span requirements, design, development, and deployment, as well as in support of sales efforts for new and future work;
  • Support the identification, development, and closure of sales efforts in support of an identified sales target;
  • Provide Banking or Insurance operations Subject Matter Expert guidance, strategies, and best practices;
  • Build and lead internal communities of IBM industry practitioners;
  • Lead or contribute to the creation of IBM positions on specific banking operations topics;
  • Define, develop and use repeatable consulting industry solutions;
  • Transfer knowledge to local IBM teams through training and side-by-side engagement work

    It is also expected that newly hired resources into GBS live within a reasonable commuting distance (generally 50 miles) of the following cities: Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Cincinnati, OH; Columbus, OH; Cleveland, OH; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Hartford, CT; Houston, TX; Kansas City, MO; Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; New York City, NY and surrounding area; Philadelphia, PA; San Francisco, CA; and Washington, DC.


Required
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 5 years experience in the Banking or Insurance Industry
  • At least 5 years experience in Customer/Marketing Management in areas such as Customer Strategy, CRM, Customer Experience Design, Customer Behavior or other similar areas
  • At least 5 years experience in a role with demonstrated leadership responsibility
  • At least 5 years experience in positions requiring significant self direction and motivation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • At least 5 years experience in writing proposals, estimating work and/or interacting with C-level executives
  • At least 5 years experience in effectively speaking and writing at an executive level
  • At least 5 years experience in guiding and facilitating executive level business decisions
  • Readiness to travel Up to 4 days a week (home on weekends-based on project requirements)
  • English: Fluent


Preferred
  • Master's Degree
  • At least 10 years experience in the Banking or Insurance Industry
  • At least 10 years experience in Customer/Marketing Management in areas such as Customer Strategy, CRM, Customer Experience Design, Customer Behavior or other similar areas
  • At least 10 years experience in a role with demonstrated leadership responsibility
  • At least 10 years experience in positions requiring significant self direction and motivation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • At least 5 years experience in contributing to thought leadership in FS industry: operations methodology, facilitation techniques, and leading practices
  • At least 10 years experience in writing proposals, estimating work and/or interacting with C-level executives
  • At least 5 years experience in professional services consulting at a national or global management consulting firm
  • At least 5 years experience in developing executive level relationships, with prior experience in the identification, development, and closure of sales efforts
