Janssen Therapeutics is recruiting for a Regional Business Director for the Eastern Region to support the new sales organization, Janssen Specialty - Hepatitis/Immunology, which will focus on product launches for Janssen Biotech and Janssen Therapeutics: SIMPONI® for ulcerative colitis (UC) and Simeprevir for hepatitis C virus (HCV). The Eastern Region includes: NY, NJ, MA, ...and FL.
The Janssen Specialty - Hepatitis/Immunology Regional Business Director (RBD) is a home-office based manager who communicates and executes Janssen Therapeutics and Janssen Biotech's selling strategies to motivate District Managers, Sales Specialists, and other core team members. The RBD reports to the National Sales Director and is accountable for strategically leading a team of District Managers, Sales Specialists, and Market Access & Reimbursement Specialists/Strategic Customer Directors as they call on various physician specialties to support the use of Janssen Therapeutic and Janssen Biotech products within an assigned geographical region of multiple states. The RBD is responsible for setting objectives and priorities within their assigned region and is responsible for all elements of their region, including strategic and business planning, resource deployment, operational efficiencies, talent acquisition, talent development, sales results and other key performance measures.
The RBD is responsible for making strategic decisions across the franchise product portfolio, collaborating with cross-functional partners, across multiple functions, departments, and roles, as well as with external business partners.
The RBD should have experience in a launch setting, and is responsible for the development and execution of business plans to build an effective team and successfully launch new products.
The RBD is responsible for establishing and executing a fully-aligned regional business plan that takes into account market development activities for new products and indications, the unique competitive marketplace, resource allocation, and business trends to deliver compliant product growth and volume objectives. The plan must align to company, franchise, and brand strategies; deliver compliant product sales growth; and meet volume objectives while effectively addressing the unique needs of the regional marketplace.
The RBD is responsible for organization and talent development, including hiring new staff, and is responsible for motivating, coaching, developing, and retaining a diverse team of individuals who are technically able and consistently execute the business plan strategies to deliver positive business results. The RBD must also exercise first line management control over his or her team's expenses, budgets, compensation programs, and policies.
The RBD leverages technology, including computers and internet applications, to optimize efficiency, planning, and coordination of efforts.
The RBD should ensure efficient operation of the region, drive the institution of best practices and effective problem-solving strategies, and allocate resources to optimize business results while considering the long-term implications of decisions.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have the following: a minimum of a B.A., B.S. with advanced degree preferred (such as a MBA). Candidates must have a valid driver's license issued in one of the 50 States along with a clean driving record and must be willing to travel as needed or required. At least 5 years of people management experience with a proven track record of talent acquisition, talent development and performance management experience is required. Two or more years of anti-viral (Hepatitis C), anti-infective, or specialty product experience is required. Other related functional experience is required (i.e. Marketing/Brand, Sales Training, Operations, or other related functional experience). Demonstrated ability to work in and lead highly collaborative teams is required.
A minimum of 8+ years Sales and Sales Management or Marketing/Marketing Management experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or other healthcare industry preferred. Expertise in healthcare industry sales, high level planning and organizing skills, and business planning experience is strongly preferred. Healthcare industry sales expertise in the Eastern United States and an understanding of key stakeholders in the healthcare environment in this geography is strongly preferred.
Candidates must satisfy reasonable credentialing requirements, including, but not limited to TB tests, Hepatitis B vaccine, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and Varicella (chicken pox).
The position is based in Titusville, NJ. Overnight travel of approximately 30%-50% including required meetings, training, sales and medical meetings, and field visits is required.
