Description

Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies is recruiting an R&D Co-op to be located in Radnor, PA. This co-op runs from April to September 2013 (Drexel School calendar).

Janssen Research & Development, L.L.C. develops treatments that improve the health and lifestyles of people worldwide. Research and development areas encompass novel targets in neurologic disorders, gastroenterology, oncology, infectious disease, diabetes, hematology, metabolic disorders, immunologic disorders, and reproductive medicine.

The selected candidate will join Experimental Pathology, a unit of the Department of Biologics Toxicology. The Experimental Pathology group is proficient in histopathology (i.e., the microscopic structure, compositions, and function of diseased tissues), immunohistochemistry, hematology, clinical biochemistry, microscopy, image analysis, flow cytometry, and cell culture. The selected candidate's main responsibility will be imaging and analysis of histological studies. With guidance, the successful candidate will learn about histopathology and develop microscopy, imaging and morphometric techniques. Other responsibilities may include cell culture and running in vitro assays. The candidate will make detailed observations and record data, interpret results from experiments analyzed and perform graphic analysis of data. The candidate must maintain a written record of studies in the form of notebooks and present data at group meetings.

Qualifications


In order to be eligible for this position, you must be currently enrolled in an accredited college throughout the duration of the co-op (April - September 2013) in a college program of Biological Sciences, Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering or related scientific discipline. Student must be available from April - September 2013 and have the ability to work full-time during that time (following the school guidelines set by Drexel). The candidate should be a self-starter, team worker. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint is required.

Students must be able to provide their own transportation to/from their work location. Students must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require future sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.
