To serve the needs of the health plan members and the other patients of the Kaiser Permanente Health Care Program. Under supervision is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing and evaluating nursing care for patients and coordinating nursing care activities with other health care disciplines.
Essential Functions:
- Neonatal Resuscitation - Attends all high risk deliveries, acts as team leader for resuscitation per NRP guideline in conjunction with Pediatrician/NNP. Assigns APGAR scores, documents findings in medical/delivery record.
- Acts as triage nurse to request appropriate provider is in attendance for each delivery requiring resuscitation.
- Performs resuscitation and initial stabilization on compromised neonates house-wide.
- Prioritizes work and integrates changes smoothly, working in an organized manner, developing alternative solutions and resolving problems in early stages.
- Ensures functioning of resuscitation equipment prior to each high risk delivery.
- Resuscitation and initial stabilization of newborns.
- STABLE.
- Newborn Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Developmental Care.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Umbilical Vessel catheterization (UVC).
- Completes R-Nurse curriculum and demonstrates application of neonatal assessment skills.
- Interpretation of lab values.
- Lab drawing skills.
- Knowledge of and ability to maintain and use resuscitation equipment.
- Basic fetal monitoring skills.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- 2 years Special Care Nursery, LDRP/L&D with resuscitation experience.
- Newborn resuscitation and stabilization experience within last 2 years
- NRP Certification
- S.T.A.B.L.E
- Basic fetal monitoring course within 4 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years SCN, LDRP/L&D with resuscitation experience
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing or related field
- A desire and ability to function within the nursing process
- A desire and ability to function within professional and personnel standards as defined.
- Ability to use and apply effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills
