Procurement is responsible for the purchase and delivery of components, raw materials, and finished goods. The procurement team strives to provide effective and timely purchasing for DePuy Synthes as well as support project initiatives that work to lower costs, mitigate risk and support overall business goals and objectives. The teams collaborate daily with cross-functional groups such as Regulatory, Quality, Planning, Customer Service, R&D, Finance, Engineering, in addition to building and maintaining strong partnerships with key suppliers.

The Procurement Co-Op will: Provide support to the Procurement teams of our DePuy Synthes business as well as corporate purchasing initiatives. Communicate with suppliers regarding updated drawings/specifications on products and request evaluations from suppliers on customer complaints. Request samples from Customer Service for Engineering and Operations groups. Support buyers by reviewing demand, creating Purchase Orders, closing out PO's, new vendor set-up, and problem solve accounts payable issues/invoice reconciliations. Create and analyze reports such as supplier spend, vendor performance metrics, VMI, open PO reports for Sarbanes Oxley compliance.

Qualifications


Enrollment (not necessarily taking classes) in an accredited college/university and pursuing at least a Bachelors Degree during the Summer/Fall (June/July - December) 2013 Co-op is required. Academic major in Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, other related Business major, or Industrial Engineering is preferred. Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during this Summer/Fall (June/July - December) 2013 Co-op is required. Completed of at least sophomore year of undergraduate school is required. A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is preferred. Demonstrated leadership and/or participation in campus/community service activities is desired.

Strong computer skills including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook are required. Manufacturing and purchasing experience is preferred. Previous experience with an MRP/ERP system is a plus. Demonstrated ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple activities concurrently while maintaining a strong sense of urgency is required. Excellent communication and customer service skills as well as be detail-oriented and have strong problem solving skills is required.

Co-op positions are located in Raynham, Massachusetts. Students must be able to provide their own transportation to work location. A stipend will be offered to students that meet the commuting distance eligibility requirements. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.
