DePuy Orthopaedics is the Joint Reconstruction business offering orthopaedic devices, solutions and supplies for hip, knee and extremity reconstruction, in addition to cement and operating room products.

This is a leadership position in the Facilities Engineering and Maintenance organization. Identifies and implements new technology to improve quality, reduce cost and improve employee safety. Guide and direct all levels of the facilities and maintenance department by coordinating all aspects of various projects. Assists in the formulation and development of long-term asset core strategy.

Coordinates and directs day to day operations of the maintenance department including determining needed repairs and improvements, establishing projects priorities and assigning work tasks, scheduling work to most effectively meet plant needs using CMMS software.

Supports the Performance Management process and the day to day people management of staff by hiring, supervising, evaluating, counseling and disciplining staff.

Ensuring equipment reliability and productivity by following maintenance excellence practices in repairs, inspections, preventive and predictive maintenance, as well as following the appropriate standards for new equipment installation.

Set up and management of technical files and machine history logs for all equipment

Ensures Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules are performed on-time.

Daily audits late PM's to monitor non-compliant PM's and takes appropriate action to maintain compliance

Reviews, analyzes and provides constructive feedback to project specifications, drawings and blue prints.

Responsible for the overall effectiveness of the mechanical and instrument/electrical maintenance functions for the plant.

Coordinates and directs off-hours Maintenance activities while on-call.

Direct the technical administration of all contracts and ensure adherence to contractual terms and conditions.

Actively support and promote continuous improving performance standards such as Maintenance Excellence and Six Sigma practices.

Responsible for review, update and on-time completion of Maintenance Staff's training matrix.

Identify, plan and coordinate recurrent and developmental training needs for employees to maintain high standards of technical competencies.

Management of all required external contractors and suppliers for Maintenance.

Ensures work assignments are in compliance within safety standards and current union agreements.

Establishes and implements and follows programs and procedures to maintain employee absenteeism, accident rates and claims.

Effectively manage, develop, and support a staff of 22+ hourly employees and 1 or more exempt employee.

Quantify resources requirements against planned levels of business and manage the availability of those resources.

Responsible for the proper management of all current storeroom inventories and machine shop activities.

Develops and maintains inventory of spare and repair parts, materials and tools.

Submit and manage yearly departmental budgets including cost reduction plans.

Participate in the preparation of the annual business plan to ensure realistic levels of facility utilization are included and achievable goals set.

Develop lasting relationships with Manufacturing, Engineering, Facilities and R&D departments through proactive and decisive support mechanisms.

Provide long-term direction (vision) to the Maintenance Department.

Participate and/or lead on both Corporate and internal Management sponsored teams.

Remain current on important industry technological and product developments that may be applied to the benefit of the company through improved process and/or enhanced services to customers.

Actively support, enforce and demonstrate ownership in the plants' EHS standards.

Ensures all OSHA required training is administered to workers in accordance with established standards.

Knows, understands, incorporates and complies with all applicable laws and regulations relating to DePuy's business activities and Policies and Procedures of the Health Care Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
Perform all job duties in full accordance with the Worldwide Policies on Information Asset Protection, maintain password(s) as Confidential, and protect Critical Business Information

Qualifications


B.S. degree in engineering, Supervison degree is a plus. Minimum 10 years experience in manufacturing environment. Minimum 5 years in Supervisory/Management role.
Must be knowledgeable on maintenance best practices. Must be knowledgeable in basic accounting and budgeting fundamentals.

Ability to utilize either written/oral communication skills to meet departmental goals/objectives. Ability to apply knowledge of maintenance systems and engineering support systems to analyze and resolve complex maintenance problems. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines/budgets. Ability to develop staff which results in increased competencies and motivation of employees.
Ability to develop effective interdependent partnering relationships which result in meeting dept. goals/objectives
Demonstrates ability to apply analytical skills and professional judgment to generate valid solutions to problems and have the ability to differentiate technical issues from procedural problems. Relavant working knowledge of a regulated industry. Be able to quickly separate minor issues and be thorough in their completion of corrective action activities.

Ability to clearly define problems, identification of root cause(s), implementation of creative and effective solutions.

Proactively seek solutions. Think analytically and act decisively. Make timely and sound decisions while adhering to established budgets.

Decisions are made subject to established departmental guidelines and procedures.

Decisions made result in significant to moderate impact regarding launch dates/product introductions, manufacturing capabilities, manufacturability of design and capital expenditure budgets. This position may require working weekends and holidays.
