Job Text

The Elevator Specialist assists the Elevator Supervisor with the receiving, shipping, cleaning, storage, and quality control of malt and seed barley.   Various responsibilities of the Specialist may require work to be done safely in adverse conditions and environment, such as confined space, elevated work stations, and temperature extremes.   They also assist with the logistics, handling, and distribution of seed to Coors customers. Specialists assist the Supervisor with maintenance of rolling stock, elevator machinery, and buildings.   They also share in the responsibilities of maintaining specific housekeeping specifications on Coors buildings and grounds.   The position is expected to be able to maintain accurate elevator records, inventories, and other documentation by being competent in the use of a computer and office software.   The Specialist must be able to assume all supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Elevator Supervisor.

Education level and/or experience



  • High school degree required. Three (3) to five (5) years experience in grain elevator operations preferred.
Skills and/or knowledge


  • Proficient computer skills (Windows 2008, Microsoft Word, Excel)SAP and departmental Barley and Inventory software
Other requirements


  • Mechanically inclined with ability to identify and solve problems quickly. 
  • Pesticide license (required for seed treatment
  •  Must not be afraid of heights
  • Heavy lifting is occasionally required.
  • Work hours are usually days but may vary, especially during barley harvest. Long hours, including weekends, and sometimes night shifts are expected.
  • May be asked to temporary relocate to outlying Company transload facilities
