GENERAL SUMMARY



Performs web development and maintenance programming and associated tasks for application systems, including integrated software and hardware application configurations. Analyzes business processes to define application functional requirements and technical specifications. Directs and participates in software/hardware releases and installation tasks. May provide guidance to staff on complex assignments.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 



  • Design, development and implementation of Java n-tier web applications used by our health plan members.
     



  • Team based collaboration.
     



  • Full life cycle development.
     



  • Testing of new development including performance testing.
     



  • Production support of portal includes defect fixing and analysis
     



  • Release management and deployment of portal releases
     




    • Participates in and may direct the analysis and definition of efficient, cost effective application solutions which support client business processes and functional requirements.
       



    • Participates in software coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and installation tasks for on-line and batch processes in accordance with industry best practices and specific internal procedures and standards.
       



    • Participates in and may direct problem definition and problem resolution activities.
       



    • Coordinates with internal departments to provide associated deliverables required for projects.
       



    • Conducts client interviews to perform analysis of client business processes and functional requirements. Prepares appropriate documentation to communicate and validate the information.
       



    • Participates in IT forums, technology assessments, industry research, and other projects as needed.
       



    • Prepares and conducts presentation of various work products and IT technology directions and strategies.
       



    • Reviews, creates, and/or revises internal IT standards and procedures.
       



    • Performs other duties as required.
       


       
      Qualifications:

      JOB SPECIFICATIONS


      - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
      - 5+ years of Java Development experience required.
      - Previous (5-7 years) experience in all phases of applications software development/maintenance life cycles in a client server environment.
      - Demonstrated excellence in technical skills and knowledge required in one or more higher level programming languages respective to various client server / web-based programming development environments.
      - Strong skills required in critical thinking and analysis, verbal and written communications, and interpersonal interactions (e.g. partnering, conflict management, consulting, etc.).
      - Understanding of health care business and care delivery processes preferred.
