The Senior Scientist, High Performance Computing (HPC) will be part of a dynamic, HPC&V team that will support multiple R&D therapeutic areas in the discovery and development of innovative medicines. The senior scientist will work with colleagues in research and informatics to develop, implement, and apply state-of-the art scientific algorithms and methods on HPC platforms for R&D teams. He/she will be responsible for direct support of drug discovery and development projects and will deliver novel computational/visualization tools and analyses in support of project teams. This person will work closely with colleagues to keep up-to-date with the latest approaches and advances in HPC and evaluate vendor tools and external data sets as required. The successful candidate will work with complex, high-dimensional data and work to integrate and analyze data sets using high HPC and advanced algorithms as required. He/she will perform research relevant to the mission of the organization and publish high quality research.
Qualifications
A minimum of a PhD degree in Computer/computational sciences, Physical/Natural sciences, mathematics, engineering, Bioinformatics, Computational/Systems Biology or a related discipline is required. A minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral/postgraduate experience is required. Experience with drug discovery and development practices and project support in a large pharmaceutical setting is a plus. Familiar with large datasets and next-generation sequencing data, handling of biomedical datasets and understanding data analysis workflows on a HPC platform is required. Full understanding of data analysis and data mining techniques is required. Strong understanding of drug discovery and development processes is highly desired. This individual must be independent, self-motivated and innovative. Ability to excel in a goal-oriented and be multifaceted in fast-moving team environment is required. Outstanding communication, organizational and leadership skills, with a successful track record of collaborating with cross-functional scientific teams is a plus. This role will be based in Spring House, PA or Beerse, Belgium.
